Girls golf team battles the weather at St. Peter meet

The St. Peter Invitational Golf Tournament was delayed by lightning and golfers ended up competing in less than ideal conditions which featured winds of over 20 mph and damp conditions.

Blue Earth Area finished third in the five-team tournament which was held on April 27, at the 18-hole Shoreland Country Club. Fairmont won the tournament with a team score of 365 followed by St. Peter with 381. BEA’s third place total was 430.

Kylie Rosenau shot a 104 to place 13th in the tournament. Her round included a birdie on the par-5 second hole and she also chipped in a shot for a par.

Rylan Storbeck shot 53 on both the front and back nine to finish with a 106 which put her in a tie for 15th place. She had two pars in her round.

Payten Gudahl made two pars in her round of 109 to finish 19th. She had a 56 on the first nine holes but improved to a 53 on the last nine holes.

Katelyn Storbeck carded a 111 to finish in 20th place and complete the Buccaneers’ team scoring.

Also golfing for BEA were Lyndsey Borris who finished with a 125 and Jordan Smith who had a 127. Borris and Smith finished 23rd and 24th, respectively.

BSC East Division Meet

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team finished fifth at the Big South Conference East Division girls meet held in Waseca at the Lakeside Golf Course.

St. Peter won the tournament, which was held on Monday, April 26, with a score of 185. Fairmont was second with 195. BEA’s score was 222.

Kylie Rosenau had the top score for the Bucs with a 52. Lyndsey Borris had a 55, Payten Gudahl a 56 and Rylan Storbeck shot a 59 to account for BEA’s team total.

BEA’s other scores were Katelyn Storbeck with a 65 and Allie Lopez with an 80.
