Both BEA track teams win at USC
But come up short in dual meet against the Fairmont Cardinals

The Blue Earth Area boys and girls track teams traveled to Fairmont on Tuesday, May 4, for a dual meet with the Cardinals.
Girls results
Fairmont tallied 128 team points to 17 for Blue Earth Area.
Eloise Blair raced to her best time of the season in the 100-meter high hurdles, clocking a time of 17.3 to finish second.
Tailor Douglas had a time of 14.4 in the 100-meter dash to finish in third place.
Douglas finished in second in the 400-meter dash with a time of 70.9. Elizabeth Jacobson was fourth.
In the 200-meter dash, Lauren Bleess clocked a time of 30.5 to take second place.
Calli Ferguson took fourth place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 14:58.0.
In the 1600-meter run, Aubrey Hueper placed third with a time of 7:36.9. Leah Becker finished fourth.
Téa Armstrong placed second in the shot put with a throw of 32-2 3/4. Chloe Groe was fourth.
Groe’s discus throw of 81-3 was good for third place.
In the high jump, Sophie Keister placed fifth with a jump of 4-4.
Addison Armstrong took first in the pole vault clearing the bar at 7-6. Jazmyn Lunz finished in fifth place.
Kate Armon was fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 27-9 1/2.
BEA had a second-place finish in the 200-meter relay with a season-best time of 1:57.4. The team consisted of Téa Armstrong, Keister, Bleess and Addison Armstrong.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Lauren Survis, Haley Kalis, Armon and Lizzy Uecker raced to a second place finish in 58.4.
Téa Armstrong, Armon, Blair and Addison Armstrong had a season-best time of 4:30.3 in the 4×400-meter relay to claim second place.
Boys results
Fairmont tallied 105 points to BEA’s 40.
Luke Norman’s throw of 130-2 in the discus earned him a first-place finish and a spot on the BEA Boys Track Honor Roll with the ninth best toss of all-time. Nick Frank placed third and Jack Norman was fourth.
Frank won the shot put with a heave of 43-10. Luke Norman finished fifth.
Elijah Sanchez took fifth place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.9.
In the 200-meter dash, it was Riley Anderson crossing the finish line in 24.4 to finish in second place.
Austin Thielfoldt won the long jump with a leap of 19-10. Gabe Torres was second.
In the triple jump, Austin Stauffer went a distance of 35-2 1/4 to place second.
Derek Lium cleared the bar at 9-0 in the pole vault to take second place.
The high jump competition featured Arty Mwangi finishing fourth with a jump of 5-2. Jacob Olson finished in fifth place.
Eli Paz ran the 3200-meter run in 14:54.7 to finish fifth.
Cameron Germain’s time of 5:32.1 gave him a third place finish in the 1600-meter run while Blair Lunz had a fifth-place finish.
Gabe Smith had a third-place finish in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 46.4.
Anderson, Thielfoldt, Olson and Jack Norman raced to a first-place finish in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 46.6.
The 4×200-meter relay team of Aaron Lorenz, Jack Norman, Gabe Torres and Bruk Sonnicksen finished in second place in 24.9.
BEA’s team of Germain, Angel Martinez, Lorenz and Smith brought home a first-place finish in the 4×800-meter relay in a time of 9:38.7.
Viesselman Invite
The Blue Earth Area girls and boys track teams both came home with victories after competing at the Viesselman True Team Invite in Wells on Friday, April 30.
Girls results
Blue Earth topped the four-team field with a score of 215, United South Central was second with 147.5, Maple River was third with 146, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva was fourth with 73.5.
Eloise Blair finished first in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 17.78.
Blaire captured first place in the 300-meter low hurdles with a time of 51.68.
Téa Armstrong was first in the 100-meter dash in 14.22.
In the 400-meter dash it was Kate Armon crossing the finish line in 71.02 to finish in second place.
Armstrong won the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.92.
Aubrey Hueper grabbed fifth place in the 3200-meter run with a time of 17:53.60.
Calli Ferguson had a time of 6:45.72 in the 1600-meter run to finish in third place.
Addison Armstrong was the winner of the 800-meter run with a time of 2:51.58.
Téa Armstrong’s throw of 33-10 was good for second place in the shot put.
The high jump saw Sophie Keister finish first with a winning height of 4-10.
In the long jump, Haley Kalis had a leap of 13-0 for second place.
Armon had a leap of 26-7 in the triple jump to grab second place.
Addison Armstrong cleared 7-6 to earn first place in the pole vault.
Addison Armstrong, Armon, Lizzy Uecker and Tailor Douglas joined forces to produce the winning time of 2.00.07 in the 4×200-meter relay.
The 4×100 team of Téa Armstrong, Keister, Lauren Bleess and Douglas won first place with a time of 55.12, which was their fastest time of the year.
The Bucs also had a victory in the 4×400-meter relay. Addison Armstrong, Armon, Douglas and Blair led the whole distance to win the race in 4:36.52.
In the 4×800-meter relay, the team of Elizabeth Jacobson, Leah Becker, Hueper and Hope Goette finished third with a time of 13:34.50.
Boys results
The BEA boys tallied 191 points to finish 34 points ahead of Maple River’s 157. USC took third with 137 and NRHEG was fourth with 101.
Riley Anderson won the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.01.
Anderson also finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.63.
Gabe Torres took second in the 400-meter dash in 55.99.
Nick Frank won the shot put with a throw of 42-6.
The discus throw competition saw Luke Norman finish second with a distance of 121-1.
Thielfoldt leaped to a first place finish in the long jump with a distance of 20-1/2.
Austin Stauffer won his first varsity track victory with a leap of 36-8 1/4 in the triple jump.
Derek Lium cleared the bar at 9-0 to place third in the pole vault.
Jacob Olson placed fifth in the high jump, clearing 5-2.
Angel Martinez placed fourth in the 1600-meter run in 5:24.93.
In the 3200-meter run, Martinez was fourth in 12:21.83.
Cameron Germain had a personal best time of 2:13.42 in the 800-meter run to take first place.
Kade Gaydon was the top finisher for the Bucs in the 110-meter high hurdles, placing fourth in 20.94.
Gabe Smith finished in second place in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 44.81. Bryce Wirth placed fifth in 51.19.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Waylen Douglas, Thielfoldt, Olson and Jack Norman raced to victory in 47.61.
Douglas, Jack Norman, Olson and Torres ran to a second place finish in the 4×200-meter relay in 1:42.05.
The BEA 4×800-meter relay team of Eli Paz, Marcus Eckles, Parker Stauffer and Gibson Haase placed third in 13:34.50.
Germain, Torres, Smith and Thielfoldt combined forces to place second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:48.96.
