Buc golfers victorious at Minn-Iowa

Gudahl is medalist, Lloyd finishes second to lead team to victory

Blue Earth Area continued with their winning ways on the golf course with another victory at a boys quadrangular meet held Saturday, May 8, at Minn-Iowa Golf Course.

Braden Gudahl shot an even-par 72 for the 18-hole meet to earn medalist honors and lead BEA to a 27-shot triumph over runner-up United South Central.

BEA’s winning score was 313. USC had 340. Fairmont was third with 342 and Albert Lea was fourth with a total of 346.

Gudahl posted a 1-over par 37 on the front nine on the golf course located north of Elmore before putting together a 1-under 35 on the back nine. Gudahl had five birdies and eight pars on the day.

Finishing in second place with a 3-over par score of 75 was Ashton Lloyd of the Bucs. Lloyd earned his runner-up medalist honors by shooting a 40 on the front nine and a 35 on the back nine. Lloyd had a team-best 12 pars on the day to go along with two birdies.

Also contributing to the BEA team score were Manning Lane and Max Ehrich who each carded rounds of 83 to tie for sixth place.

Lane shot a 40-43 with 10 pars. Ehrich had a 45 during his opening round but closed with a 38. Ehrich had eight pars and one birdie.

The Bucs’ other scores included Gavin Storbeck’s 86 and Nate Murphy’s 88. Storbeck finished in a tie for 11th while Murphy tied for 13th.

BEA is off until May 18 when they head to Shoreland Country Club in St. Peter for a Big South Conference division event. In addition to the host Saints and the Bucs, the other teams competing will be Jackson County Central, New Ulm and Waseca.

It will be their last meet before competing in the Big South Conference Championship on May 24.
