USC girl golfers finish second in two meets

The United South Central girls golf team traveled to Faribault for a golf meet on Tuesday, May 11, and placed second.

Blooming Prairie took first place with a team tally of 215, while the USC Rebels were second with 242 and Hayfield was third with a 260 score.

Jessica Ressler of Blooming Prairie was medalist with a score of 50. Emma Heggen of USC was tied for fifth place with a 59.

Conference Meet

The United South Central girls golf team came in second in a six-team conference golf meet on Thursday, May 6.

Blooming Prairie won the meet with a score of 215. USC was in second with a team tally of 238. In third was New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva at 264. Hayfield, Faribault Bethlehem Academy and Maple River all had incomplete team scores.

Halle Strunk and Jessica Ressler, both from Blooming Prairie, shared medalist honors with identical scores of 48.

USC’s Emma Heggen came in third with a score of 52, and the Rebels’ Elizabeth Romano was one stroke behind with a 53 for fourth place.

Avery Towey of Hayfield was fifth with a 56 and Maggie Bruns of Blooming Prairie was sixth with a 57.
