Rebels rout the Medford Tigers 13-4

But offense struggles against Maple River in five-inning contest

The United South Central Rebels baseball team scored in every inning but one on their way to a 13-4 victory over the Medford Tigers on Monday, May 17.

USC scored one run in the first inning, six in the second, two each in the fourth and fifth and one each in the six and seventh. Medford scored two runs in the third and two in the fifth.

The Rebels had 16 hits and the Tigers had nine. Both teams had three errors.

Blake Schroeder pitched five innings and allowed the four Medford runs on eight hits. He had three strikeouts and walked two batters.

Ian Crawford came in for the final two innings and allowed no runs, one hit, no walks and struck out two.

Jackson Spirrizzi led the way for the Rebels, going 4 for 5 at the plate, had two RBI and scored two runs. Colten Quade went 3 for 5, including a double and a home run, had three RBI and scored a run.

Andy Krohnberg was 2 for 4 and two RBI and Nick Bushlack was 2 for 6, scored two runs and had two RBI.

Krohnberg, Spirrizzi and Mason Stevermer also had doubles.

Maple River 12, USC 1

The USC Rebels could come up with only one run in the fifth inning and lost to the Maple River Eagles 12-1 on Thursday, May 13.

The Eagles had a seven run third inning to seal the win, and outhit the Rebels 10-3. The Rebels committed three errors and the Eagles none.

Andy Krohnberg and Jackson Spirrizzi hit singles and Ethan Bushlack hit a double for the Rebels.

Bryce Sonnek pitched 3 1/3 innings and gave up 12 runs on 10 hits, walked one batter and struck out three. Ian Crawford pitched 2/3 of an inning and gave up no runs or hits or walks and struck out two.
