Rebel boys are second at Gopher Tourney
Golf teams prepare to compete in Section 2A championships
The United South Central boys golf team placed second in the 2021 Gopher Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 20, played at Waseca’s Lakeside Golf Course.
The Rebels came in with a team score of 344 to land in second place. Faribault Bethlehem Academy was six strokes lower, at 338, to claim first place.
Blooming Prairie had a 354 for third, Hayfield 363 for fourth, Maple River a 367 for fifth and New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva was sixth with a 466.
USC’s Kadyn Neubauer led the Rebel team with an 18-hole score of 80, which was good for fourth place overall.
The low score for the day, and medalist honors, went to Hayfield’s Keegan Bronson who shot a score of 75.
USC’s Landan Magnuson had a score of 85, Blake Bullerman came in with an 89 and Luke Pederson shot a 90.
Other Rebel golfers were Carter Hart who carded a 96 and Levi Hinkley who came in with a 110.
The tourney marked the end of the USC golf team’s regular season and they ended with a 33-13 record.
The team now takes a break as their next competition will be the Section 2A Golf Tournament which is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 3, at North Links Golf Course in North Mankato, starting at 10 a.m.
The public is welcome to attend.
USC Girls Golf
The United South Central girls golf team also played at the Gopher Conference Tournament on Thursday, May 20 at the Waseca Lakeside Country Club.
Blooming Prairie shot a team total 414 to win, and Hayfield shot a 478 for second. USC and Maple River scores were both incomplete.
Rebel individuals who placed were Ari Schaper who came in fifth with a 105 for the 18-hole tourney and Paige Adams who had a 109 which put her in eighth place.
