Track season winding down for USC
Girls finish third, boys are fourth at Gopher Conference Meet

The United South Central/Alden-Conger boys and girls track teams competed last Tuesday, May 25, at the Gopher Conference Track Meet held in Hayfield.
Overall the USC/AC girls team finished in third place and the USC/AC boys came in fourth.
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown placed first in the girls meet with 164 points. Medford was second at 108, and USC/AC was third with 93.5 points.
In fourth was New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva with 82, Hayfield and Blooming Prairie tied for fifth place with 81 each, Maple River was seventh with 50.5 and Faribault Bethlehem Academy was eighth with 30.
For the boys, Maple River was first with 171 points, Medford second with 161, NRHEG third with 83 and USC/AC fourth with 78.
FBA was fifth with 57, WEM seventh with 49 and Hayfield eighth at 41.
The Rebels had two conference championship performances. Riley Staloch was the conference champion in the 110 hurdles with a time of 16.45. And, the boys 4×400-meter relay team of Ethan Dallman, Nathaniel Clore, AJ Bullerman and Staloch, were conference champions with a time of 3:43.22.
“The USC/AC athletes all competed well,” coach Kara Christianson said. “We are now gearing up for the sub-section meet in Maple River on June 3.”
Other Boys Conference Meet Results
Ethan Dallman was seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.10 and Isaac Burgett was eighth at 12.17. Burgett was sixth in the 200-meter at 24.90. AJ Bullerman was fifth in the 400-meter at 58.61. Gabe Schroeder was third in the 800-meter race at 2:16.19. Micah Hamson was eighth in the 1600-meter run at 5:30.93 and fourth in the 3200-meter run at 11:42.25.
The 4×100 relay team of Burgett, Clore, Bullerman and Dallman was fourth at 47.56. The 4×200-meter relay team of Clore, Colin Van Cleave, Nathan Mutschler and Joe Bonsack was third at 1:46.15. The 4×800-meter relay team of Mutschler, Tristian Obermeyer, Aaron Johnson and Jorge Martinez was third at 10:19.91.
Burgett was fifth in the high jump at 5-04. Dallman was fourth in the long jump at 19-02. Staloch was eighth in the triple jump at 35-08.5.
Girls Conference
Meet Results
Kyllah Curry was seventh in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.82 and sixth in the 200-meter dash at 29.55. Madison Klingbeil was sixth in the 800-meter at 2:55.14. Jenny Mulholland was sixth in the 1600-meter run at 6:42.86 and was eighth in the 3200-meter race at 15.46.04.
Melanie Ehlert was second in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.05, Lexi Johnson was third at 20.40 and Madison Passer was fifth at 21,02. Ehlert was second in the 300-meters hurdles at 52.63 and Passer was fifth at 58.25.
The 4×100 meter relay team of Paige Diekmann, Josie Schumann, Kylie Niebuhr and Ehlert was third at 56.57. The 4×200-meter relay team of Delany Weber, Morgan Beckman, Danyelle Dickson and Hannah Warmka took sixth at 2:08.15. The 4×400-meter relay team of Passer, Mutschler, Warmka and Lauren Hansen was fifth at 4:58.25. The 4×800-meter relay team of Kayla Thunstedt, McKenzie Roberts, Lindsay Thunstedt and Maya Hansen at 13:49.30.
In the high jump Madison Passer was fifth at 4-04 and Destiny Chavez was eighth at 4-04. Madison Klingbeil was third in the pole vault at 7-06 and Lauren Mutschler was sixth at 7-00. Melany Ehlert was fifth in the long jump at 14-06. Grace Mithun was sixth in the triple jump at 28-02.50.
Kylie Niebuhr was fifth in the discus at 89-07 and Lydia Niebuhr was sixth at 85-11. Kylie Niebuhr was third in the shot put at 34-10.
True Team
Two track meets in one.
Both the boys and girls United South Central/Alden -Conger track teams competed in a True Team Track Meet at Maple River on Thursday, May 20.
Those same scores for each event were then sent on to be used for the virtual True Team Section 2A Track Meet.
At Maple River, the USC/AC boys took second place with 74 points. Maple River was first with 136, St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran was third with 50, Hayfield fourth with 41, Faribault Bethlehem Academy fifth with 35 and Madelia/Truman/ GHEC/ Martin Luther sixth with 32.
The USC/AC girls team took third place with 68 points. St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran took first with 146 points, Hayfield was second with 74, Maple River fourth with 31, Faribault Bethlehem Academy fifth with 27 and Madelia/Truman/ GHEC/Martin Luther sixth with 24.
When all of the team scores were sent in for the Section 2A True Team Virtual Meet, the USC/AC boys came in at sixth place out of 12 teams. The USC/AC girls came in at eighth place out of 12 teams.
Maple River Meet
Boys Results
Ethan Dallman was third in the 100-meter dash at 12.67. Isaac Burgett was fifth in the 200-meter dash at 25.58. Aaron Bullerman was fourth in the 400-meter dash at 58.22 and Jorge Martinez was fifth at 59.96.
Gabe Schroeder was first in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:16.06. Micah Hamson was fifth in the 1600-meter run with a time of 5:35.63 and was also fifth in the 3200-meter run at 12:00.02.
Riley Staloch was second in the 110-meter hurdles at 17.96. He was first in the 300-meter hurdles at 43.92.
The USC/AC boys 4×100-meter relay team took first place with a time of 47.08. The 4×200-meter relay team was second at 1:43.29. The 4×400-meter relay team was first at 3:47.12. The 4×800-meter relay team was second at 10:14.16.
Isaac Burgett was third in the high jump at 5-02 and Nathanial Clore was fifth at 4-10. Gabe Schroeder was fifth in the pole vault with a 7-00 vault and Jorge Martinez was sixth at 6-06. Ethan Dallman was second in the long jump at 18-08. Riley Staloch was fifth at 35-08. Staloch was also fifth in the triple jump at 35-08.
Joe Bonsack was fifth in the discus throw at 97-08.
Maple River Meet
Girls Results
Kyllah Curry took fifth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 14.52. She took fourth in the 200-meter dash at 30.65. Lauren Mutschler was fourth in the 400-meter dash. Madison Klingbeil was third in the 800-meter run at 2:52.55.
Melanie Ehlert was second in the 100-meter hurdles at 18.48 and Lexi Johnson was fourth at 20.83. Ehlert was also second in the 300-meter hurdles at 53.74. Madison Passer was sixth at 59.86 and Kristen Hubbard was seventh at 1:01.07.
The USC/AC 4×100-meter relay team was second at 55.85. The 4×200-meter relay team was third at 2:05.82. The 4×800-meter relay team was second at 13:29.51.
Madison Passer was fifth in the high jump at 4-02 and Hannah Warmka was sixth at 4-02. Melanie Ehlert was third in the long jump at 14-03. Grace Mithun was fourth in the triple jump at 27-10.75. Madison Klingbeil was second in the pole vault at 7-06 and Lauren Mutschler was fifth at 7-00.
Kylie Niebuhr was second in the shot put with a distance of 36-04 and Lydia Niebuhr was fifth at 27-07. Kylie Niebuhr was second in the discus throw at 94-11.50 and Lydia Niebuhr was fourth at 81-09.
Section 2A True Team
The USC/AC Rebels who finished in the top 10 at the Section 2A True Team Track Meet included:
Boys – Gabe Schroeder fourth in the 800-meter, Riley Staloch seventh in the 110-meter hurdles and second in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4×100-meter relay team third, 4×200 team sixth, 4×400 team third, 4×800 team ninth, Ethan Dallman third in long jump and Riley Staloch eighth in triple jump.
Girls – Madison Klingbeil 10th in 800-meters, Melanie Ehlert sixth in 100-meter hurdles and third in 300-meter hurdles, 4×100-meter relay team fourth, 4×200-meter team eighth, 4×400-meter team ninth, 4×800-meter team seventh, Kylie Niebuhr second in shot put and sixth in discus, Lydia Niebuhr 10th in discus, Madison Klingbeil seventh in pole vault and Melanie Ehlert fifth in long jump.
Coaches Comments
“This was the meet used as our section true team meet,” USC/AC coach Kara Christianson noted. “Most of the boys and the girls were in multiple events and had a lot on their plate. This has been, and continues to be, a great group of athletes to work with. Their positive attitudes, work ethic, and team awareness have been on display at every meet.”
Christianson added that all of the coaches are pleased with the athletes’ effort and willingness to work as a “true team.”
