USC baseball is on a roll

The United South Central Rebel baseball team blasted away and downed Faribault Bethlehem Academy 17-7 in a Section 1A playoff game that was held on Memorial Day Monday, May 31.

With the win, the No. 4 seed Rebels moved on to play the No. 5 seed, Wabasha-Kellogg, on Thursday, June 3, in Austin. Details on that game will be in the next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.

At Monday’s game, the Rebels had nine different players get at least one hit.

The team was led by Bryce Sonnek who went 3 for 5. Nick Bushlack, Colton Quade, Andy Krohnberg, Zale Bushlack and Konnor Harpestad all had two hits in the game. Ian Crawford, Jackson Spirrizzi and Mason Stevermer had one hit each.

Stevermer and Krohnberg had doubles in the game. Quade led with four RBI, while Nick Bushlack, Krohnberg, Harpestad and Spirrizzi all had two RBI.

The Rebels exploded for five runs in the first inning, six in the third, one in the fourth and five more in the sixth. Meanwhile, FBA got all seven of their runs in the top of the sixth inning.

Crawford was the winning pitcher for the Rebels, but no pitching stats were available.
