Wildcats are beaten by Waterville and Cleveland

The Wells Wildcats traveled to Waterville to take on the very tough Waterville Indians on June 30, and lost by a score of 19-6.

Wells battled for most of the game. They were trailing 10-6 going into the bottom of the sixth when the Indians’ bats erupted and ultimately ended the game via the 10-run rule in the bottom of the eighth inning.

Pitcher Cody Leitner took the loss for the Wildcats.

The offense faced a tough Waterville pitching staff and managed only eight hits. The Wildcats were led by Zach Niebuhr and Todd Rasmussen going 2 for 4, with Rasmussen collecting the lone extra base hit with a double.

The Wildcats record now stands at 4-8 (3-6 in 13-60 League Play). Wells hosts the Waseca Braves on Saturday, July 10, and travels to Eagle Lake on Sunday, July 11.

Cleveland Spiders 11, Wells Wildcats 6

The Wells Wildcats faced the Cleveland Spiders on June 27 and fell by a score of 11-6.

The Wildcats struggled to get key hits and left 14 runners on base in the loss to Cleveland.

Trevor Stencel took the loss, giving up seven runs on 10 hits over five innings of work.

The offense was led by Jared Latusek and Todd Rasmussen, both going 2 for 4. Sam Zebro added a double, going 1 for 4 with an RBI.
