Legions lose in playoffs

The USC Legions baseball team of Wells dropped game 12 of the 2021 District 2 tournament in Wabasso 3-1 to Springfield.

Blake Schroeder picked up the hard luck loss going six innings, allowing five hits, striking out seven batters and walking one. Ian Crawford threw a scoreless seventh inning.

At the plate Konner Harpestad had an RBI double in the sixth inning to cut the lead to two. Bryce Sonnek and Jackson Spirrizzi picked up the other two hits for USC.

This loss ended a nice playoff run for the USC Legions that extended over three weekends. The team ended the season with a 9-4 record.

The team would like to thank the participating American Legions that support the baseball team – Wells, Keister, Bricelyn, Easton and Freeborn. Also, the USC Legions team would like to thank their fans and players’ parents for following them throughout the summer.
