The Mountain Lake Golf Course was the site of the Metcalf Invite cross country meet on Friday, Sept. 3. It was an overcast day with temperatures in the 60s.

“The course was sloppy, though decent,” Blue Earth Area head cross country coach Tom Plocker noted.

The BEA girls team finished ninth in the 11-team field with 247 points.

Calli Ferguson was the top runner for the Bucs in the first 5K race of the year for the girls squad.

Ferguson finished in the top half of all competitors with a time of 25:06. It was her personal best time and was good for 39th place.

Other varsity runners included Leah Becker, who finished 66th in 28:39; Elizabeth Jacobson, who was 69th in 29:37; Aubrey Hueper, who crossed the line in 29:40 and was 70th; Lauren Bleess, who finished 74th in 31:06; and Hope Goette, who finished in 78th place with a time of 33:26.

The BEA boys did not field a complete team and therefore did not have a team score.

However, four boys did compete in the varsity race.

Angel Martinez ran the race in 21:11 to finish 56th. Jerry Passe had a time of 27:44 to finish in 82nd place. Eli Paz was 86th in 28:30 and Shane Levenhagen was 87th in 29:05.

The cross country teams competed in the Gerry Smith/Titan Invite at the Montgomery National Golf Clubs on Thursday, Sept 9.
