USC tennis team defeats the Maple River Eagles

The United South Central Rebel tennis team won all three doubles matches and half of the four singles matches on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Maple River Eagles last Tuesday, Sept. 7.

In doubles action, Rebels Elizabeth Romano and Kelsie Chapman teamed up for a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3, hard-fought victory at No. 1 doubles over Madison Ward and Macy Sohre.

At No. 2 doubles, it was Brooklyn Yokiel and Addison Mithun also taking a three-set win, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4, over Ellie Braaten and Claire Langworthy.

The Rebel duo of Maya Hansen and Olivia Bungum downed Eagles Brooke Reuter and Rachel Fields, 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3 doubles.

At No. 1 singles, USC’s Maya Zebro lost 6-3, 7-6 to Ally Mersman. Macy Zebro downed Leah Proehl 6-3, 6-1, at No. 2 singles.

The Rebels’ Lauren Hansen lost 7-5, 6-4, to Kelsey Jaeger at No. 3 singles. At No. 4 singles it was Brylee Neubauer of USC winning 6-2, 7-5, over Mackenzie Walters.
