Sibley East pins tennis loss on Rebels
USC’s Macy Zebro chases down a ball in her No. 1 singles match against Sibley East.
The United South Central Rebels girls tennis team hosted the Sibley East Wolverines on Tuesday, Sept. 21, and fell to the visiting squad by a 7-0 score.
The closest match of the day was at No. 3 doubles, when the Rebel duo of Olivia Bungum and Addison Mithun took on Morgan Johnson and Amelia Kratzke.
The Wolverine tandem won the first set 6-2, while Bungum and Mithun battled back taking the second set 6-4. However, Sibley East gained the win with a 6-3 third set score.
At No. 1 doubles, Maya Zebro and Elizabeth Romano lost 6-1, 6-4, to Jacqueline Wibstad and Holly Otto. It was Brooklyn Yokiel and Maya Hansen losing 6-2, 6-2, at No. 2 doubles to Jada Henke and Shelby Dieball.
USC’s Macy Zebro took on Mallory Sylvester at No. 1 singles and was defeated 6-1, 6-0. At No. 2 singles it was Lauren Hansen falling to Chloe Reyes, 6-2, 6-4.
Brylee Neubauer lost to Jessica Widmer, 6-3, 6-2, at No. 3 singles and Ivy O’Rourke was defeated 6-1, 6-1, at No. 4 singles by Jenave Mendoza.
Next up for the Rebels was a trip to Maple River on Thursday, Sept. 23, to St. James on Saturday, Sept. 25, then they will have a home match on Tuesday, Sept. 28, against Tri-City United.
