On their first possession of their game against the Alden-Conger Knights on Saturday afternoon, Sept. 25, the United South Central Rebels ran five plays and then were forced to punt away the football.

However, the Rebels scored a touchdown on each of their next eight possessions of the ball on their way to a 55-0 rout of the Knights.

Four of those scores came in the first quarter, with two more each in the second and third quarters.

Score No. 1 came on a 15-yard pass play from Nick Bushlack to Colten Quade. Brendan Drescher ran in the two-point conversion.

The second TD was a Quade run from the one-yard line, with a pass from Bushlack to Taylor Conley for the two-point conversion.

The Rebels’ third touchdown of the first quarter was a 34-yard pass play from Bushlack to Conley, with a failed two-point conversion try. And the fourth score was a 15-yard pass completion from Bushlack to Quade with another failed two-point attempt.

That made the score 22-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Rebels would score 20 more points in the second quarter. The first was on a Bushlack to Jon Martinez pass for an 86-yard touchdown. Bob Schindler kicked the PAT. The second score was a nine yard run by Quade and another extra point kick by Schindler.

That made it a 42-0 half time score.

The Rebels got another Quade run for a touchdown, this time from seven yards out, with another Schindler kick for PAT. The final score was a Drescher eight yard run and a Schindler PAT kick.

The score at the end of three quarters was 55-0, which became the final score with running time in effect for the fourth quarter.

The Knights actually ran more plays in the game than the Rebels, 48-41, but their drives ended with five punts, two fumbles, an interception, turning it over on downs once, and the first half coming to a close.

For the game, Bushlack completed 7 of 14 pass attempts for 235 yards and four touchdowns.
