Huskies and Cards defeat the Bucs
Team will close out regular season with four games on the road

The Blue Earth Area girls basketball team, with a record of 4-15, traveled to Jackson on Monday, Feb. 7, to take on the 13-7 Jackson County Central Huskies in a Big South Conference clash.
JCC had three players each score over 20 points and the Huskies picked up their 14th win of the season with an 84-37 victory over the Bucs.
BEA found themselves trailing 48-23 at halftime before being outscored 36-14 in the second half.
The Bucs made a third of their 2-point shot attempts during the game, converting on 11 of their 33 tries. The Huskies put up 44 shots from inside of the arc and made 22 for a 50 percent success rate.
BEA made only three of their 19 3-point shots. JCC took 22 shots from behind the arc and made eight.
The Huskies also held the advantage at the free-throw line. The host team converted 16 of their 21 shots from the charity stripe. Meanwhile, the Bucs went to the free-throw line 16 times and made six.
JCC held a 52-25 advantage in rebounding.
Kate Armon and Sophie Keister both hit double figures in the scoring column for BEA. Armon made two 3-pointers on her way to a 13-point scoring performance.
Keister made five shots, all of them 2-pointers, to account for her 10 points.
Maddie Schiltz tallied six points for the Bucs.
Keister and Schiltz also led the team in rebounds with Keister finishing with seven and Schiltz totaling six.
BEA traveled to Waseca on Friday, Feb. 11, to take on the Bluejays. The Bucs will also be on the road on Tuesday, Feb. 15, when they head to St. James to take on the Saints.

Fairmont 66, BEA 16
The Fairmont girls basketball team came to Blue Earth on Friday, Feb. 4, with an impressive 17-2 record to take on the 4-14 Blue Earth Area Buccaneers.
After building a 38-14 halftime lead, the Cardinals held the Bucs to just two second-half points on their way to a 66-16 victory.
The Bucs only attempted 19 shots from inside of the arc and made seven while the Cardinals got off 35 2-point attempts and made 20.
BEA did not make any of their 12 shots from 3-point range. Fairmont was successful on seven of their 20 shots from outside of the arc.
The Cardinals led the Bucs in rebounding by a 35-17 margin. BEA committed 26 turnovers compared to 10 by Fairmont.
Individually, the Bucs were led by Maddie Schiltz with 10 points and five rebounds. Olivia Dutton also recorded five rebounds.
