Track teams move outdoors

But, meet is cut short when lightning and storms approach field

Lightning brought an early end to the Buc Mini-Invite hosted by Blue Earth Area at Wilson Field on Tuesday, April 12.

High winds also caused cancellation of the pole vault event for the meet while other events were not completed before the bad weather arrived.

Girls results

Fairmont cruised to an easy victory in the three-team contest with 78 points. Jackson County Central tallied 31 points to place second and BEA came in third with 11.

In the field events, Chloe Groe placed first in the discus event with a toss of 86-10 1/2 while Taylor Ripley finished in fifth place with a throw of 68-3.

Groe nabbed second place in the shot put with a mark of 32-1 1/2.

The Bucs also placed some athletes in the running events.

Addison Armstrong was third in the 400-meter dash with a time of 65.1 while Kate Armon was fourth in 67.7.

The 4×100-meter relay team of Haley Kalis, Sophie Keister, Lauren Bleess and Tailor Douglas finished third with a time of 56.4.

In the medley relay, Addison Smith, Ruby Ziegler, Lola Faulhaber and Hope Goette joined forces to finish in third place with a time of 3:26.5.

The 4×800-meter team of Calli Ferguson, Elizabeth Jacobson, Aubrey Hueper and Allison Redepenning ran the race in 13:05.9 to take third place.

Boys results

The Buccaneer boys finished in third place with 16 points. Fairmont was first with 81 and Jackson County Central was second with 34.

It was a second place finish for the 4×100-meter relay team of Gage Barker, Bruk Sonnicksen, Austin Skaden and Jack Norman who had a time of 48.6.

The sprint medley team of Jacob Grandgenett, Waylen Douglas, Aaron Lorenz and Angel Martinez placed third with a time of 4:14.0.

In the shuttle hurdle relay, Kade Gaydon, Arty Mwangi, Isaac Anderson and Parker Stauffer turned in a time of 1:18.6 to capture third place.

Gaydon took fifth place in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 48.7.

In the 100-meter dash, Gabe Torres finished third in 12.0 while Bruk Sonnicksen was fourth in 12.2.

Jack Norman had a third-place finish in the shot put with a toss of 41-1 and Blake Ripley was fifth with a mark of 40-1 1/2.

Ripley’s throw of 118-4 in the discus was good for third place. Norman came in fifth with a distance of 100-1.

Austin Stauffer and Mwangi each cleared the high jump bar at 5-2 to tie for fifth place.

Torres covered a distance of 19- 1/2 in the long jump to take second place.

Skaden was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 35-3.

Buc Indoor Invite

The Blue Earth Area boys track team pulled out a one-point victory in the Buc Indoor Track Meet held on the campus of Minnesota State – Mankato on Thursday, April 7.

BEA finished with 75 points, St. James was second with 74, River Valley tallied 52 to finish in third place and Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton was fourth with 33.

The Bucs were led in the running events by Jacob Grandgenett who took first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.6. Jack Norman was third in the race in 25.6 and Austin Skaden was fourth in 26.4.

Grandgenett also nabbed a second-place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 57.3.

In the 55-meter dash, it was Gage Barker crossing the line with a time of 7.1 to take third place.

The Maroon and Gold also did well in the hurdle events. Kade Gaydon was second in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 9.6. Parker Stauffer was third with a time of 10.1

Stauffer crossed the finish line with a time of 9.7 in the 55-meter intermediate hurdles to capture second place.

The team of Grandgenett, Aaron Lorenz, Waylen Douglas and Gabe Torres combined their efforts to finish in second place in the 4×200-meter race with a time of 1:41.3.

In the 4×400-meter race, Barker, Douglas, Lorenz and Torres finished with a time of 3:58.3 which put them in third place.

Moving to the field events, Stauffer cleared the bar at 5-6 which was good for second place in the high jump.

Gabe Torres captured first place in the long jump with a distance of 18-7. Lorenz was third with 17-3 and Skaden was fifth with 17-0.

Skaden finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 35-11 1/2. Stauffer was third with 35-9 1/4.

The Bucs captured the top three spots in the shot put.

Luke Norman was first with a toss of 43-5 1/2. Jack Norman was second with 39-5 and Blake Ripley was third with 38-10 1/2.

Girls Results

River Valley placed first out of the four teams with 80.5 points, JWP was second with 74, BEA was third with 40.5 and St. James was fourth with 11.

Calli Ferguson crossed the finish line in 6:26.2 to capture first place in the 1600-meter run while teammate Aubrey Woodwick finished third in 6:47.5.

Addison Armstrong garnered a second-place finish in the 200-meter dash with a time of 65.1.

Lauren Survis was fifth in the 55-meter intermediate hurdles in 11.0.

The BEA team of Sydney Eastvold, Sophie Keister, Lauren Bleess and Tailor Douglas took fourth in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:07.2.

Kate Armon, Douglas, Lizzy Uecker and Armstrong finished fourth in the 4×400-meter relay in 4:58.7.

Chloe Groe continued to do well in the shot put and earned another first-place finish with a toss of 33-1. Hailey Becker was second with a throw of 30-3 and Taylor Ripley was fifth with a distance of 26-10.

Armstrong finished first in the pole vault when she cleared the bar at 9-0. Jazmyn Lunz had a vault of 7-6 to take third place and Douglas was fourth at 7-0.

First place in the high jump went to Keister with a leap of 4-8. Sarah Dohm was fourth at 4-4.

Haley Kalis was fourth in the long jump. Her best jump measured 12-4 1/2.

Kalis also placed fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 26-11.
