By Chuck Hunt - Editor | Apr 24, 2022

The United South Central Rebel boys baseball team led 1-0 at the end of the first inning.

Unfortunately, it was the only run the Rebels would score, and the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva Panthers scored seven unanswered runs and took the victory 7-1.

The Panthers scored six runs in the second inning, then added one more in the sixth. The Rebels were outhit by the Panthers 5 to 1 and USC also had five errors.

The Rebels had seven players reach first base on walks, but they also left eight men on base.

USC’s single hit came off the bat of Zale Bushlack.

Blake Schroeder pitched five and one third innings and gave up the six runs on four hits. He walked two and struck out 10.

Aiden Crabtree pitched two-thirds of an inning in relief and gave up one run on one hit.

Next up for USC was a game scheduled for Thursday, April 21, at home against Randolph. Then they were also scheduled to play at Glenville-Emmons on Saturday, April 23. Those game results will be in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.

This week the Rebels are set to play on Monday, April 25 at Triton, then April 28 vs. WEM.
