BEA 190, JCC 224

The Blue Earth Area girls golf team defeated the visiting Jackson County Central Huskies by 34 strokes in a meet held at Minn-Iowa Golf Course on Tuesday, May 10.

The Bucs’ final total was 190 while the Huskies tallied 224.

BEA’s Kylie Rosenau and Payten Gudahl tied for medalist honors. They each shot a 46 on the nine-hole, par 36 course.

Rosenau shot par on hole No. 4 and hole No. 6 while Gudahl recorded pars on hole No. 7 and hole No. 8.

Katelyn Storbeck had one par while shooting a 47 to tie for third place.

Madison Ehrich and Rylan Storbeck each carded a 51 to tie for sixth place. Storbeck had one par during her round.

Liz Beeler parred one hole to finish with a 53.

 Cardinal Invite

The Blue Earth Area girls golf squad had one of their finest outings of the year on their way to a second-place finish in the seven-team field at the Cardinal Invite held at Interlaken Golf Club in Fairmont on May 7.

Fairmont finished in first place with a score of 367. BEA was next with 391, Marshall and St. Peter tied for third with 404.

Luverne, Worthington and New Ulm were the other schools competing.

Payten Gudahl was the silver medalist at the meet with an 18-hole score of 88, just three shots behind Fairmont’s Anika Haugen.

Gudahl had five pars on the par-72 course.

Capturing third place was the Bucs’ Katelyn Storbeck who carded a 91. She had three pars during her round.

Kylie Rosenau had three pars on her way to a round of 99 which put her in 10th place.

Madison Ehrich contributed the final score to the team total with a round of 113 to finish 35th. Ehrich had one par on the day.

Also golfing for the Bucs were Liz Beeler and Rylan Storbeck, who finished 38th and 45th, respectively.

Boys Results

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneer boys’ golf team played host to Jackson County Central at Minn-Iowa Golf Course on Tuesday, May 10.

It was a close contest, but in the end the Huskies defeated the Bucs by five strokes, 167-172.

BEA’s Ashton Lloyd shared medalist honors with JCC’s Sam Brinkman. Both golfers shot an even-par 36 on the nine-hole course.

Lloyd had pars on three holes and birdied three holes.

Eli Blagg and Kyren Sunken each shot a 45 to tie for fifth place.

Sunken had two pars on the day.

Cale Borris and Max Loge each posted a score of 46 to tie for seventh place.

Borris carded one par while Loge had two pars.

BEA’s Jackson Blondin finished with a 48.

BSC Event-Waseca

The Blue Earth Area boys golf team finished eight strokes out of first place when they played in a Big South Conference East Division event at Waseca Lakeside Golf Course on Monday, May 9.

St. Peter won the meet with a team score of 174 with Fairmont finishing in second with a score of 175. BEA’s score of 182 put them in third place. Jackson County Central was fourth with 191, New Ulm was fifth with 195 and Waseca was sixth with 199.

Ashton Lloyd finished in third place in the nine-hole competition with a round of 42, two shots behind the lowest score of 40.

Lloyd parred three holes on the par-35 course.

Kyren Sunken finished in a three-way tie for sixth with a score of 45. Sunken also had three pars during his round.

Eli Blagg carded a 47 to finish in a three-way tie for 11th.

Jackson Blondin contributed the final score towards the Bucs’ total with a round of 48 to tie with five other golfers for 14th place. Blondin had one par.

Also golfing for the Bucs were Nathan Murphy, who carded a 53 to tie for 31st and Gordy Bruellman, who was 36th with a round of 58.

Dakotah Ridge Invite

Blue Earth Area was the only Class AA school in the nine-team Dakotah Ridge Invitational held on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7, at Morton. All of the other schools were Class AAA schools.

The tournament was comprised of two 18-hole rounds.

Edina won the meet with a two-day total team score of 607. BEA’s score of 733 put them in ninth place.

Ashton Lloyd was the top finisher for BEA. He shot an 81 on Friday during the first round and an 83 on Saturday for a total of 164. He finished in a tie for 25th place.

Kyren Sunken had a two-round total of 185, Nathan Murphy carded a 36-hole score of 189, Eli Blagg scored a 197, Gordy Bruellman had a 201 and Jackson Blondin had a 206.
