Hayfield earns shutout win against USC in softball
It was not a very good outing for the United South Central softball team when they traveled to Hayfield on Tuesday, May 10.
The Rebels came home with an 8-0 loss to the Vikings.
Hayfield opened up early with four runs in the first inning and two more in the second. They got one more run in the fourth and another in the sixth.
The Rebels had three hits in the game and the Vikings had seven. USC’s Hannah Meyer had two of the Rebels’ hits and Taylor Schroeder had the other one.
Mariah Anderson pitched four innings and gave up seven runs, four of them earned, on four hits. She walked one batter and struck out seven.
Meyer pitched two innings and gave up one run, which was earned, and allowed three hits. She did not walk or strike out any batters.
The Rebel girls’ next game was scheduled to be on Thursday, May 12 when they host Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton. They were also scheduled to play on Saturday, May 14 in a tournament event in Janesville.
This week they will play on Monday, May 16, at New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva, Tuesday, May 17 they host Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and Thursday, May 19 they will play against Truman/Martin Luther/GHEC in Truman.
