Logan O’Hara, above, was on the mound in Blue Earth Area’s game against the Windom Eagles.

A lack of offense hurt the Blue Earth Area Bucs in their efforts to defeat the Windom Eagles in baseball at Veterans Field in Blue Earth on Monday, May 16.

The Bucs could only generate one run off of three hits against Windom’s pitching and the Eagles flew home with a 6-1 victory.

Windom scored once in the top of the first inning, added two more runs in the second inning and another run in the third inning to take a 4-0 lead.

After the Eagles had added two more runs in the top of the sixth inning, the Bucs finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh inning with one run when Kean Hicks drove home Parker Meyers who had been hit by a pitch.

Hicks had two of BEA’s three hits while Logan O’Hara had the other.

O’Hara started on the mound and went 5 and one third innings to take the loss.

Fairmont 8, BEA 6

Blue Earth Area traveled to Fairmont on Thursday, May 12, to take on the unbeaten, Class 2AA No. 2-ranked Fairmont Cardinals baseball team.

And, just like the previous week, the Bucs gave the Cards a good scare but could not quite pull out the victory and Fairmont remained unbeaten with an 8-6 victory.

Fairmont opened the scoring with one run in the bottom of the second inning.

The Bucs matched the Cards with a run of their own in the top of the third inning.

Carson Sturtz opened the inning on a single. After the Cards recorded two outs, they elected to issue an intentional walk to the Bucs’ Logan O’Hara.

Nick Barke was hit by a pitch to fill the bases and Parker Meyer took ball four on a full count to force in Sturtz with the tying run.

The Cards regained the lead in the bottom of the third inning when they scored twice to take a 3-1 lead.

Neither team scored in the fourth inning but the Bucs put two runs across the plate in the top of the fifth to tie the game 3-3.

BEA had two runners in scoring position when Fairmont made an error on a ball hit by Colton Hubly which allowed the two runs to score.

The game was not tied for long because Fairmont pushed four runs across the plate in the home half of the fifth inning to go on top 7-3.

BEA put together a three-run inning in the top of the sixth to pull within one run of their I-90 rivals.

Back-to-back singles by Sturtz and Soren Fering got things started for the Bucs.

After an infield pop out, O’Hara laced a single to right field to score Sturtz with Fering holding at second base.

Nick Barke followed with a line drive to right field to plate Fering with the Bucs’ fifth run of the game.

Parker Meyers was up next and walked to load the bases.

Hicks hit into a force out with Barke out at third base, but O’Hara scored to cut the Cards’ lead to 7-6.

Fairmont added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning and then retired BEA in the top of the seventh inning to preserve their win.

The Bucs outhit the Cards 12-6 with Fering, Meyers, Hicks and Sturtz each recording two hits. BEA had one extra-base hit which was a double by Fering. Meyers also led the team with two runs batted in.

Anthony Carr, Abram Kokos and Caleb Langager shared pitching duties for the Maroon and Gold.
