Blue Earth Area’s Katelyn Storbeck is shown putting in a meet held earlier this year at the Minn-Iowa Golf Course. She is in fifth place after the first round of the Section 2A Tournament.
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers girls’ golf team found themselves at the top of the leaderboard after the first day of the Section 2AA Golf Tournament held at the New Prague Golf Club on Wednesday, June 1. The two-day tournament will conclude on Tuesday, June 7.
After the first day of competition, the Bucs’ team score of 378 gave them a narrow one-stroke lead over the team from Holy Family Catholic. Jordan was in third place, three strokes behind the Bucs and the St. Peter Saints were in fourth place, seven shots off of the lead.
Only the top four teams qualify for the second day of the Section Tournament and only the overall winner of the tournament will qualify as a team for the State Tournament.

The Blue Earth Area boys’ golf team fell four strokes short of being the fourth team to qualify for Round 2 of the Section 2AA Golf Meet.
The Bucs’ team score of 347 was four shots behind the fourth-place team from Glencoe-Silver Lake.
However, two BEA golfers, Ashton Lloyd and Nate Murphy, qualified to continue in the individual portion of the tournament and will be back in New Prague on Tuesday, June 7, to tee off for the final round of the Section 2A Tournament.

Lloyd started on the 10th hole and made seven pars in the first nine holes. He added three more pars in the final nine holes.
Murphy sits in a three-way tie for 19th after shooting an 86 on the par-72 course. Murphy’s round included one birdie and six pars.
