Rebels rally to earn trip to State
Overcome nine-stroke deficit to win Section 2A championship

The United South Central boys golf team pulled off a big come-from-behind win at the Section 2A Golf Tournament, and are now headed to the State Golf Tournament.
They won the Section golf championship by just one stroke on Monday, June 6, at the North Links Golf Course, outside of North Mankato.
The USC Rebels had been in second place – nine strokes behind the leader - after the first day of the Section Tournament.
USC shot a two-day team total of 682 to just edge out Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton who had a team total of 683.
In third place was Sleepy Eye United with 711 and in fourth was Martin County West with a team tally of 740.
Out of the original 13 teams who competed on Day 1 of the tourney, only the top four moved on to Day 2.
The Rebels were once again led by Kadyn Neubauer who shot a 79-78 – 157, and was in third place overall.
Luke Pederson shot 81-81 – 163 for sixth place overall; Blake Bullerman carded a 93-82 – 175 for 11th overall; Carter Hart shot 99-88 – 187 for 17th overall.
Rebel Levi Hinkley came in with 94-99 – 193 for 21st place and Brennan Anderson had 97-103 – 200 for 23rd place.
USC will be be competing as a team at the State Golf Meet, and also as individuals.
All of the members of the Section championship winning team, plus the top five individuals that are not members of the championship team, qualify for the State Golf Tournament.
This will not be the first trip to State Golf for one USC golfer.
Sophomore Neubauer qualified and competed in last year’s State Golf Meet, so this will be his second trip to State. The other five USC Rebel golfers will be participating in their first State Tournament.
The State Class A State Golf Tournament is a cumulative, 36-hole, two-day event that takes place on Tuesday and Wednesday, June 14-15, at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker.
The public is invited and there is no admission charge for spectators.
USC Girls Golf
Section Results
The United South Central Rebels girls golf team finished in fourth place at the Section 2A Golf Meet.
The Rebel girls qualified for Day 2 of the Section Meet, held on North Links near North Mankato on Monday, June 6.
The girls’ team scores from Day 1, combined with Day 2, gave them a 36-hole final total of 961, which put them in fourth place.
The Rebels were led by freshman Emma Heggen, who finished in eighth place with a 210. Senior Brooklyn Yokiel placed 16th with a 241; senior Elizabeth Romano shot a 248 to finish 18th; and junior Grace Niebuhr shot a 262 and finished 22nd.
