BEA golfers wrap up Class AA season

Three Blue Earth Area golfers finished their season on Wednesday, June 15, at the Class AA State Golf Tournament which was held at Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course in Jordan.
Ashton Lloyd competed in the two-day event for the boys while Payten Gudahl and Katelyn Storbeck competed for the girls.
The tournament was interrupted by rain on the second day. While the boys completed their 18-hole round on Wednesday, the girls were only able to play nine holes so their total scores were for 27 holes, not the usual 36-hole total normally used for the State Tournament.
Lloyd opened play on Tuesday with a round of 86, including eight pars, which left him in a five-way tie for 63rd place.
He improved his second-round score by seven strokes to shoot a 79 for a two-day total of 165 to finish in 52nd place.
His second round included one birdie and 10 pars.
Gudahl finished Day One of the girls’ tournament in a two-way tie for 64th place. She had three pars while carding a score of 100.
In her nine-hole second round, Gudahl made one birdie to finish with a 49. Her two-day total of 149 left her in a four-way tie for 62nd.
Storbeck opened the tournament on Tuesday by shooting par on two holes while finishing in a two-way tie for 69th place with a score of 102.
During her final nine holes on Wednesday, she again made two pars while finishing with a 50 for a two-day total of 152 and a tie for 70th place.
All three golfers are underclassmen and will have a chance to try and make it back to the State Tournament again next year.
