By Kevin Mertens - Staff Writer | Jul 31, 2022

The Wells Wildcats and Minnesota Lake Royals remain alive in the 13/60 League playoffs of the Amateur Baseball League.

The news was not so good for the Blue Earth Pirates who exited the playoffs after suffering two defeats on Sunday, July 24.

Blue Earth faced Wells in the opening game and suffered a 4-2 loss which sent them into the elimination bracket against the Janesville Jays.

It was another close contest, but in the end the Jays pulled out a 7-5 victory to end the Pirates’ season. Individual statistics were unavailable for either game.

After defeating Blue Earth, Wells took on Minnesota Lake. The Royals had downed Janesville 4-3 in their first game of the playoffs.

The Wildcats came out on top 7-5 over the Royals to remain in the winner’s bracket.

The Royals were scheduled to host the Waseca Braves on Saturday, July 30, in an elimination game and Wells traveled to Waterville on Sunday, July 31, to face the Waterville Indians, who opened the playoffs with a 9-0 victory over Lake Crystal. In their second game, they defeated the Morristown Morries 11-4.
