Parker Meyers (10) is shown above running in the rain and breaking a tackle while heading for the corner of the end zone. Meyers led the Bucs in rushing with 105 yards.

The Blue Earth Area football team did not let the weather rain on their scoring parade when they played host to the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Knights at Wilson Field in Blue Earth on Sept. 9.

The Bucs exceeded the half-century mark for the second week in a row with their 51-12 thrashing of the Knights.

A light rain kept conditions damp for most of the evening.

BEA struck first when quarterback Ashton Lloyd scored from six yards out to give the Bucs a 6-0 lead.

Daniel Rodriguez booted the extra point through the uprights and the Bucs had a 7-0 lead with 3:52 left in the opening quarter.

Two minutes and one second later BEA struck again.

After holding LCWM to a three-and-out, it took just two plays for the Bucs to find the endzone for the second time of the evening courtesy of a 47-yard touchdown pass from Lloyd to Jack Norman. The kick by Rodriguez was good and the home team held a 14-0 lead.

BEA increased their lead by 17 points in the second quarter.

The Bucs scored on a safety with 6:41 left in the first half. Will Allis knocked the ball loose from a Knights’ ball carrier. Although the Knights recovered their own fumble, it was in the end zone and BEA’s Nick Nelson was on the spot to tackle the runner and give the home team two more points and a 16-0 lead.

Following the safety, BEA capitalized on a short kick by LCWM and moved the ball on the ground 37 yards to the Knights’ 10-yard line.

A pass from Lloyd to Colton Hubly covered the final 10 yards for another touchdown. The Bucs opted to attempt a two-point conversion and were successful when Lloyd connected with Norman for the conversion and a 24-0 lead with 5:19 remaining until halftime.

BEA added one more touchdown before intermission.

Parker Meyers ran the ball in from 17 yards to finish off a drive which began on the Bucs’ 36-yard line. The touchdown by Meyers along with the point after kick by Rodriguez gave the Bucs a 31-0 lead at the half.

BEA’s starters added another touchdown 29 seconds into the third quarter. The score was set up by a long kickoff return by Meyers which covered 50 yards. A 33-yard pass to Norman was good for a touchdown. The kick by Rodriguez was good for the extra point and the Maroon and Gold held a 38-0 lead.

The next Bucs’ score came when Noah Johnson burst through the line and turned on the after burners to run away from the Knights’ defenders on a 57-yard touchdown run. Following the successful kick by Rodriguez, BEA was on top 45-0 with 8:45 left in the third quarter.

LCWM scored twice in the fourth quarter while BEA’s Max Loge added an eight-yard touchdown to the Bucs’ final total.

BEA amassed a total of 416 yards on offense while holding LCWM to 70.

The Bucs’ defense did not allow the Knights to get a first down in the opening half while holding them to just one yard of offensive production.

Lloyd completed four of 11 passes for 100 yards and three touchdowns.

Meyers rushed for 105 yards on 11 attempts. He scored one touchdown.

Jacob Grandgenett carried the ball twice for 69 yards. Johnson ran for 63 yards and one touchdown on two carries while Lloyd tallied 63 rushing yards on 11 carries. He also had one touchdown. Loge scored one touchdown while rushing for 13 yards on two attempts.

Norman had two receptions, both for touchdowns, for 80 yards.

Colton Hubly caught one ball for a 10-yard touchdown and Soren Fering had one reception for 10 yards.

The Bucs were on the road on Sept. 16, when they traveled to Jackson to take on the Huskies.

Look for the results of that game in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.
