The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers struck on the ground and through the air on their way to a 42-7 victory over the Le Sueur-Henderson Giants in a battle of Section 2AA foes on Friday, Sept. 23.

The visiting Buccaneers took a 6-0 lead in the opening quarter before erupting for 30 points in the second quarter to take a 36-0 halftime lead.

BEA would add a final score in the second half and the Giants would also find the end zone for their only points of the evening.

Running back Parker Meyers opened the scoring for the Maroon and Gold with 6:35 remaining in the opening quarter. The senior took the ball on a handoff from quarterback Ashton Lloyd and plunged into the end zone for the touchdown. The extra point kick was blocked so BEA’s lead was 6-0.

Only 10 seconds had run off of the clock in the second quarter when Meyers ran the ball in from 34 yards out for his second touchdown of the evening.

The Bucs opted to try a two-point conversion and were successful with Meyers rushing past the goal line to increase BEA’s lead to 14-0.

A 41-yard touchdown pass from Lloyd to wide receiver Jack Norman with 9:32 left in the first half, followed by a failed two-point conversion attempt had the Bucs on top 20-0.

Meyers continued his solid night of running with his third touchdown of the evening with 1:14 remaining until halftime. Meyers’ run covered 29 yards and Lloyd passed to Norman for a successful two-point conversion and a 28-0 lead.

The Bucs got the ball back and Lloyd completed a four-yard pass to Abe Kokos for a touchdown with four seconds to go before intermission. Lloyd connected with Norman for a successful two-point conversion and a 36-0 BEA lead heading into the second half.

The Bucs’ only score of the final 24 minutes came on a five-yard run by Caleb Langager. The extra point kick was no good but BEA had a commanding 42-0 lead.

The Giants scored a touchdown in the closing minutes to make the final score 42-7.

BEA dominated the statistics with 458 yards of total offense while gaining an average of 10.2 yards per play.
