Rebels sink Cleveland Clippers 24-8

The Rebels’ Blake Bullerman finds some running room in USC’s game against Alden-Conger/Glenville- Emmons played earlier this year.
The United South Central Rebel football team scored one touchdown in each quarter of their game against the Cleveland Clippers on Friday night, Sept. 30, in Cleveland.
They failed to convert the extra point on all four touchdowns so they ended up with 24 points. Cleveland scored one touchdown, near the end of the game, and converted a two-point extra point try, making the game’s final score 24-8.
USC’s first quarter touchdown came on a four-play, 83-yard drive. The scoring play was a 47-yard pass play from Taybor Conley to Johnny Martinez. Conley attempted to run in the try for two extra points, but was tackled at the one-yard line.
The second quarter score was a nine-yard run by Martinez, completing an 11-play, 58-yard drive. A Martinez run for two points was stopped.
In the third quarter, the Rebels had a five-play, 41-yard drive that culminated with an opposite pass connection from the first quarter. This time it was Martinez passing to Conley for a 22-yard completion for a touchdown. The try for extra points again failed.
The fourth quarter score was a one-yard run by Aiden Crabtree that came with only 28 seconds left on the game clock. It came after another long drive, this one 12 plays and 60 yards long.
It was the ensuing kickoff by the Rebels that Cleveland returned 76 yards for their only score of the game, with just seconds left on the clock.
The stats show a pretty good indication of the Rebels’ dominance in the game. USC had 288 yards of offense to 77 yards for the Clippers, which included 185 to 34 for rushing yards and 103 to 43 for passing yards.
USC had 17 first downs compared to five for Cleveland. USC ran 57 plays to their 38 and had the ball for 30 minutes to their 18.
The Rebels also converted on 5 of 11 third downs and 2 of 2 fourth downs, while the Clippers were unable to convert on any third or fourth downs.
There were a lot of penalties in the game, with nine called on the Rebels and 11 on the Clippers.
Conley was 1 for 2 passing for 47 yards, Crabtree was 1 for 3 for 34 yards and Martinez 1 for 1 and 22 yards.
Conley gained 72 yards on 11 rushing attempts, Byron Getchell had 67 yards on 21 attempts and Martinez 48 yards on 10 tries.
Martinez had caught one pass for 47 yards, Blake Bullerman one for 34 yards and Conley one for 22 yards.
On defense for the Rebels, Bullerman led the way with 10 tackles and a quarterback sack. Dylan Bohnsack was credited with nine tackles and Conley had five.
