Six Blue Earth Area football players have been named to the All-South Central Blue District Football Team while two Buccaneers received honorable mention.

Ashton Lloyd, Parker Meyers, Jack Norman, Noah Johnson, Isaiah Cornelio and Nick Nelson received All-South Central Blue District recognition while Soren Fering and Abram Kokos were awarded honorable mention.

Lloyd, who quarterbacked the Bucs to the Class AA State Tournament and a 9-3 record, was also named South Central Blue District Player of the Year.

Lloyd finished his senior season by completing 139 passes in 227 attempts for 2,060 yards and 21 touchdowns. He also rushed for 704 yards on 126 carries.

On defense he had 28 tackles and three sacks.

“Ashton can do so many things,” BEA football coach Randy Kuechenmeister said. “He sees the field so well and makes everyone around him better. He is very talented and has played so many positions.”

Cornelio was named the South Central Blue District Defensive Lineman of the Year. The senior recorded 25 tackles and had one fumble recovery.

“Isaiah was tough to move on defense and required a double team on every play,” Kuechenmeister said. “He was a big part of our success on offense in our short-yardage situations. He was definitely a force to be reckoned with.”

Meyers closed out his football career at BEA by gaining 1,091 yards on 141 rushing attempts while scoring 23 touchdowns. The fleet-footed running back also caught 46 passes for 652 yards and six touchdowns. He had 56 tackles on defense, one interception and three quarterback sacks.

Johnson utilized his speed as a running back to gain 621 yards on only 45 carries. He rushed for six touchdowns. The senior also pulled down seven catches for 148 yards. He had 53 tackles and sacked the quarterback twice.

Norman combined his speed, height, good hands and excellent route running to haul in 45 catches for 727 yards and eight touchdowns. The senior defensive back also tallied 38 tackles and two interceptions.

Nelson, a senior linebacker, recorded 55 tackles, three sacks and had one fumble recovery during his final football season for the Buccaneers.

Fering, a senior cornerback, had 18 tackles. On offense he caught three passes for 44 yards.

Kokos, another senior, had 19 pass receptions for 224 yards and three touchdowns. He ended his final year of high school football with 25 tackles and one interception.

“These kids, along with the rest of the team, have been a great group to be around,” Kuechenmeister said. “They did everything that was asked of them. The whole team developed as the season went on. It was a lot of fun.”
