Gymnasts suffer narrow loss to MCW
Magic win by less than one point

It was the Bucs versus the Magic gymnasts in a meet held at Blue Earth Area (BEA) Elementary School on Thursday, Dec. 8 .
Though the contest was close, the Martin County Area (MCA) gymnasts edged out BEA with their 123.325 score, just beating the Bucs’ 122.525.
Despite the overall loss, several Bucs placed in the all-around, with BEA’s Addison Armstrong snagging first place with a 32.7 and Adrianna Reddick taking third with a 30.7.
The rest of the Bucs’ varsity squad – Addy Olson, Lauren Survis and Lizzy Uecker – scored 30.375, 27.7 and 27.55 in the all-around, respectively.
The Bucs shone brightest on vault, tallying a 33.875. Armstrong landed first place with a 9.025 and Reddick placed third with an 8.5. Just behind her was Olson, whose vault garnered an 8.45. Survis earned a 7.9 and Uecker earned a 7.8.
BEA struggled on the bars, however, ending the event with a 27.6. Reddick swung into first place with a 7.35, but Armstrong failed to place with a 7.1. Olson scored a 6.9, Uecker scored a 6.25 and Survis earned a 6.2.
On beam, another tricky event, the Bucs finished with a 28.35. Armstrong’s 7.425 captured second place and Olson scored a 7.125. Reddick’s routine was good for a 6.95 and Survis scored a 6.85. Uecker finished the event with a 5.75.
A strong performance on floor rounded out the evening. The BEA team landed a 32.7 and Armstrong nabbed first place with her 9.15 score. Olson earned a 7.9, as did Reddick. Uecker’s routine was good for a 7.75 while Survis scored a 6.75.
BEA’s JV gymnasts trailed MCA’s with a score of 101 to the JV Magic gymnasts’ 108.1.
In the all-around, Kyannah Brandt scored a 26.45 and Ella Schonborn scored a 25.3. Taylynn Amundson earned a 24.65, Cassie Hagedorn earned a 23.65 and Sidney Eitzman finished the evening with a 21.7.
