But take second at triangular meet with Worthington and Marshall

BEA’s Taylor Douglas soars to new heights during her floor routine in the Bucs’ triangular meet with Windom and St. James on Jan. 26.

The Blue Earth Area (BEA) gymnasts participated in two triangular meets over the past week, posting a middling finish in one and a solid win in the other.

The most recent meet took the Bucs to Worthington to face off against their Trojan hosts and the Marshall Tigers.

While BEA bested Marshall’s score of 120.25, the Bucs’ 126.775 came up short against the Trojans’ 141.025.

Buc Addison Armstrong finished with a 33.4 in the all-around and teammate Addy Olson finished with a 31.65. BEA’s Tailor Douglas tallied a 30.825 and Buc Lauren Survis earned a 27.25.

On vault, the Bucs tallied a cumulative 34.2. Armstrong landed an 8.8, while teammates Olson, Haley Kalis and Douglas followed up with an 8.45, 8.5 and 8.45, respectively. Survis’ vault scored a 7.9.

BEA swung a 29.45 on bars. Armstrong’s routine just missed the 8.0 mark with a 7.95 score. Olson earned a 7.3 while Douglas scored a 7.15. Kalis finished with a 7.05 and Survis earned a 6.35.

The Bucs’ beam routines tallied a 29.7. Douglas led with a 7.825, followed by Armstrong with a 7.525. Olson earned a 7.3, Kalis posted an 8.05 and Survis scored a 5.5.

BEA’s strongest performances emerged on floor, where they earned a 33.425. Armstrong’s routine tallied a 9.125, which was good for third place, while Olson earned an 8.6. Buc Kyannah Brandt scored an 8.2, Survis scored a 7.5 and Douglas finished with a 7.4.

BEA 130.425, Windom 119.35, St. James 94.925

The Bucs dominated when they hosted the Windom Area/Mountain Lake Cobras and the St. James Area Saints at a triangular meet on Thursday, Jan. 26.

BEA’s varsity gymnasts posted a 130.425 final score, surpassing the Cobras’ 119.35 and the Saints’ 94.925.

Armstrong booked a first place all-around score of 35.175, and Douglas, recently recovered from an injury, was back in the game with a 32.9, second place all-around finish. Olson secured a 30.3 all-around score, which put her in third place against St. James, and Survis finished with a 28.3.

The Bucs stuck the landing on vault, earning a cumulative 34.8 team score. Armstrong’s first place vault earned a 9.05 and Kalis followed up with an 8.8, which took second place. Douglas secured third place with an 8.5, Olson scored an 8.45 and Survis earned an 8.0.

BEA fell just shy of the 30.0 mark on bars, earning a team score of 29.65. Armstrong’s routine garnered an 8.0, first place finish while Douglas and Olson swung a 7.75 and 7.05, respectively. Douglas’ routine took second, while Olson secured third place against St. James. Kalis earned a 6.85 and Survis finished with a 6.15.

The team earned a 31.275 on beam. Armstrong took first place with an 8.925 and Douglas’ routine garnered an 8.0, second place finish. Kalis scored third with a 7.8, Olson scored a 6.55 and Survis scored a 6.1.

The Bucs finished strong with a 34.7 on floor. Armstrong’s routine merited a 9.2, first place finish, while Douglas’ routine tallied an 8.65, which took second. Brandt also performed well, securing an 8.6, and third place, with her routine. Olson scored an 8.25 and Survis scored an 8.05.

The Bucs’ next meet was on Thursday, Feb. 2, against Waseca. They are scheduled to travel to Pipestone High School for a meet on Tuesday, Feb. 7, and will round out the regular season with a meet at Jackson County Central High School on Thursday, Feb. 9.
