Ruby Allis easily clears the high jump bar during the Viesselman True Team Invite held in Wells on April 11.

The Blue Earth Area track teams traveled to Wells for the Viesselman True Team Invitational Track Meet held on Tuesday, April 11.

In addition to BEA, the six-team invite featured teams from Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial, Maple River, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and United South Central.

Girls results

LCWM finished first with 287 points. It was a close battle for second place with the Panthers of NRHEG edging the Bucs by four points, 242-238. WEM was fourth with 203.5, USC was fifth with 177.5 and Maple River placed sixth with 132.

A rundown of the top BEA finishes in each event follows.

In the 100-meter high hurdles, Eloise Blair placed fourth with a time of 20.63.

The 300-meter low hurdles saw Makayla Grant run to a ninth place finish in 1:02.47.

Kyannah Brandt was the top finisher for the Bucs in the 100-meter dash with a time of 15.13 which was good for fifth place.

Addison Armstrong finished first in the 400-meter dash in 1:03.43. She also claimed first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.76.

In the 3200-meter run, Aubrey Woodwick had a personal-best time of 14:21.70 to finish in second place.

Woodwick and Natalie Schiltz came in side by side in the 1600-meter run. Woodwick was 10th in 7:53.34 and Schiltz was 11th in 7:54.47.

Sidney Eitzmann had a time of 3:02.83 in the 800-meter run to place fourth.

Chloe Groe had a distance of 30-01 to place fourth overall in the shot put.

Groe was also the top Buccaneer finisher in the discus with a toss of 92-14.50 which put her in third place overall.

Ruby Allis cleared a height of 4-2 in the high jump to finish in 10th place.

A leap of 12-08.50 by Haley Kalis in the long jump was good for ninth place.

Eitzmann was sixth in the triple jump with a distance of 26.11.25.

Armstrong won the pole vault, set a new personal record and moved into second place on the BEA honor roll when she cleared the bar at a height of 10-6.

BEA’s team of Grace Schavey, Elaena Schiltz, Kate Armon and Tailor Douglas placed second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:03.53.

Blair, Makayla Grant, Armon, and Brandt joined forces to run the 4×100-meter relay and finished second in 58.23.

Armon, Douglas, Haiden Wielenga and Armstrong ran the 4×400 relay in 4:47.66 to finish in third place.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Eitzmann, Abbey Lorenz, Madie Redepenning and Woodwick placed second in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 12:55.94.

Boys results

Maple River placed first in the boys competition with 323 points, LCWM was second with 277, NRHEG was third with 217.5, BEA came in fourth with 214.5, WEM placed fifth with 183 and USC was sixth with 84.

Jacob Grandgenett was second in the 100-meter dash in 12.27 and third in the 200-meter dash in 24.624.

Blair Lunz placed 14th in the 400-meter dash in 1:07.96.

Nick Nelson won his first event ever in track with a toss of 39-2.25 in the shot put.

In the discus, Jack Norman finished seventh with a throw of 80-10.5.

Austin Skaden had a mark of 17-7.5 to take seventh place in the long jump and a distance of 35-1, also good for seventh place, in the triple jump.

Lunz and Shane Levenhagen each cleared the bar at 8-0 in the pole vault to finish 10th and 11th, respectively.

Austin Stauffer placed fourth in the high jump by clearing the bar at 5-4.

Aiden Donahue was 10th in the 1600-meter run in 6:18.99.

In the 3200-meter run, Elijah Paz was fourth with a time of 15:54.19.

Hayden Prestegard’s time of 2:44.08 was good for eighth place in the 800-meter run.

Marcus Eckles led BEA in the 110-meter high hurdles with a time of 21.58 which put him in 10th place.

Kade Gaydon took fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 47.36.

Gage Barker, Nelson, Stauffer and Norman finished third in the 4×100-meter relay in 48.38.

Skaden, Nelson, Stauffer and Barker ran to a second-place finish in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:39.41.

Levenhagen, Lunz, Oliver Ankeny and Donahue finished fifth in the 4×800-meter relay with a time of 12:17.10.

In an exciting 4×400-meter relay race, the team of Barker, Stauffer, Norman and Grandgenett covered the race in 3:46.10 to take second place.

Indoor meet at Mankato

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers were back on the campus of Minnesota State in Mankato for another indoor track meet on Thursday, April 6.

In addition to the Bucs, the three other teams competing were Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, Waterville-Elysian-Morristown and St. James.

Due to spring break at BEA, the Bucs had a limited number of participants for this track meet.

Girls results

JWP took first place in the girls portion of the meet with 84.33 points. Finishing in second place was WEM with 60.33 points. St. James narrowly edged BEA for third place with 35.33 points while the Bucs finished with 33.

Addison Armstrong picked up three first place finishes during the meet. Her time of 28.6 was the fastest in the 200-meter dash. She repeated her first-place performance in the 400-meter dash with a time of 64.8. Armstrong capped off her day by winning the pole vault competition by clearing the bar at 10-0.

BEA’s 4×200-meter relay team of Grace Schavey Elaena Schiltz, Madie Redepenning and Ruby Allis placed fourth with a time of 2:10.0.

Kyannah Brandt had a time of 11.1 in the 55-meter low hurdles to place third. She also placed third in the 55-meter high hurdles with a time of 11.2. She had a fourth-place finish in the 200-meter dash by crossing the line in 31.4.

Aubrey Woodwick completed the 800-meter run in 3:01.4 to take third place. In the 1600-meter run, she finished sixth in 6:25.6.

Chloe Groe’s toss of 35-0 was good for third place in the shot put while Allis claimed fourth place in the high jump with a leap of 4-4.

Boys results

St. James finished on top in the boys division with 68.58 points. JWP was second with 67.17, WEM was third with 45.5 and BEA was fourth with 31.75.

Jacob Grandgenett led the Bucs with a first-place finish in two events.

His time of 6.6 in the 55-meter dash was the best time at the meet and also put him into first place on the BEA Indoor Honor Roll.

Grandgenett also claimed the top spot in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.7.

He narrowly missed taking first place in the 400-meter dash. His time of 58.3 was good for second place.

The Bucs’ 4×200-meter relay team of Austin Skaden, Austin Stauffer, Will Allis and Gage Barker finished third in 1:46:32.

Gage Barker took third place in the 200-meter dash in 25.5 and tied for fourth in the 55-meter dash with teammate Nick Nelson with each runner being clocked with a time of 7.0.

Stauffer cleared the high jump bar at 5-8 to finish in second place. Stauffer also finished second in the triple jump with a leap of 36-03.

Skaden’s long jump distance of 17-10 was good for third place.

Blair Lunz was the top BEA pole vaulter. He cleared the bar at a height of 8-0 to finish in fifth place.
