USC 7, Maple River 1

The United South Central Rebels scored seven runs against the Maple River Eagles on just two hits.

Meanwhile, the Rebels held the Eagles to just two hits as well, and just one run.

USC scored two runs in the third inning on their two hits of the game, and added another run in the fourth. Meanwhile Maple River scored their one run in the fourth on their two hits.

With a 3-1 lead going into the seventh inning the Rebels exploded for four runs with no hits. The scoring came on a series of seven walks issued by the Eagles during the inning. The Eagles issued 12 walks to USC batters in the game.

Molly Wegner and Kendal Harpestad each had a single for the Rebels.

Mariah Anderson pitched all seven innings for the Rebels. She allowed just the two hits and one run, had 16 strikeouts and walked three batters.

Next up for the USC girls was a game set for Thursday, April 13 against Medford. This week they are set to host Alden-Conger/Glenville-Emmons on Monday, April 17.

Kenyon-Wanamingo 2, USC 1

The United South Central Rebels girls softball team lost a heartbreaker on Thursday, April 6, when they fell 2-1 to the Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights.

The Rebels actually outhit the Knights 4 to 2, but the Knights got a run in both the first and sixth innings to take the win.

Mariah Anderson got two of the Rebels’ hits, going 2 for 3 at the plate. Molly Wegner and Alivia Bruegger got the other hit for USC. All of the hits were singles.

The Rebels only walked once, were hit by a pitch once and had 10 strikeouts in the game.
