The Bucs had a good week on the tennis courts. No. 3 singles player Jamie Johnson, above, was one of many BEA players who booked a win last Monday against the Worthington Trojans.

The Buc boys continued their winning streak on the tennis courts after trouncing the Worthington Trojans, 6-1, on Monday, April 24.

Representing Blue Earth Area at No. 1 singles was Joe Frundt, who defeated Worthington’s Ian Barber in straight sets, 6-2, 6-0.

At No. 2 singles, Buc Brady Lorenz suffered a loss to Trojan Ezra Bonnett, 6-4, 6-3. However, BEA’s Jamie Johnson booked a 6-0, 6-0 triumph over Oziel Briones.

Devin Haase brought the Bucs another win at No. 4 singles, downing Trojan Bennet Oberloh, 6-2, 6-1.

A close match at No. 1 doubles was eventually settled in BEA’s favor.

Bucs Ryder Dutton and Gustavo Chavero slammed Worthington’s Victory Bu and Dylan Dykstra, 6-0, in the first set, but the Trojans fought back for a 7-5 win in the second set. In a tiebreaking set, Dutton and Chavero pulled ahead for a narrow victory, 11-9.

The remaining doubles matches were resolved more quickly. BEA’s Mitchell Stevermer and Seth Mathews beat Kaw Blay and Soe Nay Htoo at No. 2 doubles, 6-2, 6-1, and Noah Hanson and Mateaus Sanchez booked a final win for the Bucs at No. 3 doubles when they defeated Diego Ramos Loza and Nick Martinez, 6-0, 6-0.

The Bucs are slated to play Pipestone Area High School at home on Friday, April 28, weather permitting. They will also invite St. Peter to Faribault County for a home meet on Tuesday, May 2.
