Rebels rally to down Rockets in baseball

Score seven runs in last two innings to go home with the victory

After trailing or being tied in the first four innings, the United South Central Rebel boys baseball team came back and defeated the Randolph Rockets 11-4 in a game played on Monday, April 24, in Randolph.

The game was tied after the first inning when both teams scored one run each. Randolph increased their lead to 3-1 when they scored two runs in the bottom of the second inning.

The Rebels came back with two runs of their own in the top of the third to once again tie the game 3-3. However, the Rockets scored a run in the bottom of the third to take a 4-3 lead.

Neither team scored in the fourth, but the Rebels scored one run in the fifth to once again tie the game, at 4-4.

USC exploded for five runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to come home with a big 11-4 victory.

The Rebels had eight hits in the game to the Rockets’ six.

Nick Bushlack was 3 for 3 at the plate, with both a double and a triple. Byron Getchell had one hit, but it was a double.

Also getting hits were Zale Bushlack, Aiden Crabtree, Hunter Bruckhoff and Zayden Schott.

Taybor Conley was the starting pitcher and went three innings, giving up three runs on six hits, walking three and striking out four.

Aiden Crabtree pitched four innings and got the win. He allowed no hits or runs, walked one and struck out five.

The USC baseball team was scheduled to play three games in three days later in the week. They were set to host Triton on Thursday, April 27, play at Nevis on Friday, April 28 and at St. Clair on Saturday, April 29.
