Blue Earth Area’s Tailor Douglas reaches to hand the baton off to her teammate Kyannah Brandt during the 4x200-meter relay.

The Blue Earth Area track teams competed at the Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial Invitational Track Meet on Tuesday, May 2, under extremely windy conditions.

Girls Results

The Buccaneer girls finished fourth in the meet with 86 points. Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton captured first place with 147 points while Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet finished in second place with 140 points. St. Clair/Immanuel Lutheran was third with 98, United South Central/Alden Conger was fifth with 72 and Madelia/Truman/ Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther was sixth with eight points.

Addison Armstrong continued to perform well with two first-place finishes during the meet.

Armstrong ran the 400-meter dash in 64.67 to win the event by more than three seconds. She also finished first in the pole vault with a mark of 8-03.

Chloe Groe also captured first place in two events. Her throw of 104-10 was the best throw in the discus and her toss of 31-10.5 gave her first place in the shot put.

The girls 4×100-meter relay team of Kate Armon, Kyannah Brandt, Autumn Gordon and Malayna Johnson took second place with a time of 57.45.

Eloise Blair, Brandt, Tailor Douglas and Armstrong partnered up to finish second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:00.88.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Sidney Eitzmann, Madie Redepenning, Natalie Schiltz and Aubrey Woodwick had a time of 12:36.44 to take third place.

In the 4×400-meter relay, Armon, Douglas, Eitzmann and Armstrong joined forces to finish in third place with a time of 4:47.81.

Sara Dohm finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 30-11.5.

Boys Results

The host LCWM/Nicollet track team won the meet with 202 points. JWP was the runner-up with 114.5, BEA was third with 87, St. Clair/Immanuel was fourth with 79.5, M/T/GHEC/ML took fifth with 59 and USC was sixth with 10.

Austin Stauffer had a first-place finish in the high jump when he cleared the bar at 5-07.

The BEA boys also ran to a first-place finish in the 4×200-meter relay with Nick Nelson, Gage Barker, Jack Norman and Jacob Grandgenett winning the race with a time of 1:40.39.

In the 4×100-meter relay, Austin Skaden, Stauffer, Will Allis and Nelson ran to a second-place finish with a time of 48.12.

The Bucs also had a second-place finish in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:57.63. Running for BEA were Barker, Stauffer, Norman and Grandgenett.

Barker finished second in the long jump with a leap of 18:06.50.

Aiden Donahue, Ryder Stauffer, Pablo Ozuna and Hayden Prestegard finished third in the 4×800-meter relay in 11:17.00.

Grandgenett was third in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.94.

In the shot put, Norman took third place with a toss of 41-10.00.

BEA Invitational

Blue Earth’s Wilson Field was the site of a six-team invitational track meet on Friday, April 28, featuring the host Blue Earth Area Buccaneers along with teams from Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial/Nicollet, Madelia/Truman/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Martin Luther, Maple River, Martin County West and United South Central.

Girls Results

The Knights of LCWM/N finished in first place with 184.75 points. BEA was second with 117.5, MCW took third with 93.5, Maple River finished fourth with 91.25, USC came in fifth with 65 and M/T/GHEC/ML finished sixth with 29.

The Bucs placed first in three events.

Grace Schavey, Ruby Allis, Autumn Gordon and Kate Armon ran to a first-place finish in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 2:05.1. Addison Armstrong’s time of 28.2 put her in first place in the 200-meter dash and Chloe Groe’s toss of 31-01 in the shot put placed her ahead of the rest of the competition in that event.

BEA had a number of other fine performances during the meet.

The 4×800-meter relay team of Leah Becker, Natalie Schiltz, Abby Lorenz and Madie Redepenning finished fourth in 3:04.89.

Eloise Blair, Tailor Douglas, Kyannah Brandt and Armstrong took second in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 3:04.89.

The Bucs also took second in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:34.6. Competing for BEA were Armon, Douglas, Sidney Eitzmann and Armstrong.

Blair had her best showing of the year in the 100-meter high hurdles with a time of 18.1 which was good for second place.

Taylor Ripley finished fourth in the shot put with a distance of 26-04.

Groe took second place in the discus with a throw of 100-11.

Sara Dohm was second in the triple jump with a mark of 28-4 while Eitzmann was fourth at 26-09.5.

In the long jump, Lauren Survis placed fourth with a distance of 13-00.

Armstrong placed second in the pole vault at 10-06.

Dohm was second in the high jump when she cleared the bar at 4-06.

Boys Results

Maple River outdistanced the rest of the field with 206 points to claim first place in the boys track meet. LCWM/N finished second with 119 points followed by BEA in third place with 102. MCW was fourth with 88, USC took fifth with 29 and M/T/GHEC/ML placed sixth with 25.

BEA’s Jack Norman had his best throw of the year in the shot put with a distance of 41-01 to take first place.

Austin Stauffer had a couple of second-place finishes in the field events. His leap of 5-06 in the high jump and his triple jump mark of 35-10.5 were each good for second place.

Austin Skaden took third place in the long jump with a distance of 17-19 and third in the triple jump with a mark of 35-04.

Hayden Prestegard was fourth in the triple jump with a distance of 28-08.5.

Nick Nelson, Gage Barker, Norman and Jacob Grandgenett ran to a second-place finish in the 4×100-meter relay with a time of 46.8.

Skaden, Stauffer, Will Allis and Nelson took second in the 4×200-meter relay with a time of 1:40.8.

It was a fourth-place finish for Barker, Stauffer, Norman and Caden Juba in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 3:52.2.

Aiden Donahue, Pablo Ozuna, Blair Lunz and Prestegard finished third in the 800-meter relay with a time of 11:11.9.

Marcus Eckles was second in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 51.4. He placed fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 21.4.
