Rebels shut out by Randolph Rockets
After breaking 1-1 tie in seventh inning to defeat Southland

The United South Central softball team suffered a loss when they hosted the Randolph Rockets on Tuesday, May 9.
The Rebels were defeated 8-0, and only came up with one hit in the game.
Randolph scored three runs in the first inning, then three more in the fifth inning and another two in the sixth.
Olivia Bungum got USC’s only hit in the game.
Mariah Anderson pitched all seven innings and gave up the eight runs on nine hits. She walked two batters and struck out 12.
Next up for the Rebels was a game set for Thursday, May 11, against Blooming Prairie. They were also scheduled to play in a tournament at Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton on Saturday, May 13.
This week they host Hayfield on Monday, May 15, and play at JWP on Thursday, May 18.
USC 2, Southland 1
After having lost a couple of close games recently, the United South Central softball team pulled out an exciting 2-1 victory over Southland on Monday, May 8, at home.
The Southland Rebels had scored first, with one run in the very first inning. The USC Rebels came back and tied the game with one run in the bottom of the third inning.
It stayed tied until the bottom of the seventh inning when USC scored another run to take the thrilling victory.
The USC Rebels outhit Southland 5-3, but also stranded nine players on base, to Southland’s four.
Brylee Neubauer led USC at the plate, going 2 for 3 batting. Molly Wegner, Olivia Bungum and Ivy O’Rourke got the Rebels’ other three hits.
Mariah Anderson went all seven innings on the mound, giving up the one run on three hits. She also only walked one batter and struck out 14 batters. Southland’s pitcher struck out 13 Rebels in the pitchers’ dual.
FBA 8, USC 2
The United South Central softball team hosted the Cardinals from Faribault Bethlehem Academy on Thursday, May 4, and lost by a score of 8-2.
FBA scored two runs in the second inning, another one run in the third, then added five more in the top half of the seventh inning.
The Rebels finally scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh, but it was not enough.
The Rebels had five hits, just one less than the Cardinals’ six.
Taylor Schroeder led the Rebels at the plate by hitting a homerun. Alivia Bruegger had one hit and it was a double. Others getting hits were Mariah Anderson, Kendal Harpestad and Brylee Neubauer.
Anderson pitched all seven innings and gave up the eight runs on six hits, walked eight batters and struck out nine.
