USC boys lose by one stroke to the Knights

The United South Central boys golf team returned to their home course of Oak View Golf Course near Freeborn for a meet on Tuesday, May 9. But this time it was a meet hosted by Alden-Conger and USC was the visiting team.

And, the host team won the meet by one stroke, 171 to 172, over the Rebels.

USC’s Kadyn Neubauer was the medalist – his fifth time being medalist at a meet this season – with a score of 39.

Right behind Neubauer was Blake Bullerman with a score of 40, which was good for second place out of the 21 golfers.

Brennan Olson carded a 44 for a tie for sixth place and Brennan Anderson shot a 49 for 10th place to complete the Rebels’ team score tally.

Mason Schrader shot a 52 for 11th place and Jorge Martinez shot 55 for 13th place.

USC’s next meet was scheduled for Thursday, May 11 at the Dodge Country Club near Dodge Center.

USC Girls Golf Results

The USC girls golf team also played at Oak View Golf Course on Tuesday, May 9, against Alden-Conger.

Alden-Conger won with a score of 231, while the USC girls had an incomplete team score.

The Rebels’ Paige Roberts shot a 69 for a tie for fifth place out of nine golfers. Eva Hernandez carded a 70 for seventh place and Karly Koehler shot a 74 for eighth place.

The USC girls were also scheduled to play on Thursday, May 11, at Dodge Center.

USC Quadrangular

Just a day after shooting a team tally of 171 and taking second place, the United South Central Rebels boys golf team shot one stroke higher, a 172, and took first place.

The Rebels took first at their home quadrangular on Friday, May 5, played at Oak View Golf Courses near Freeborn.

Blooming Prairie was second with a score of 185, Maple River was third with a 203 and Kenyon-Wanamingo had an incomplete team score.

Kadyn Neubauer led the team, shooting a 41, and gaining his fourth medalist honors of the season.

Brennan Olson was second on the team with a 43 and was tied for second out of the 19 golfers.

Brennan Anderson and Jorge Martinez shot identical 44s to complete the Rebels’ team score, and were tied for fourth overall.

Other USC golfers were Blake Bullerman who carded a 46 for a tie for eighth place and Carter Hart who had a 47 and was tied for 10th place.

The team now has a record of 22-5.

USC Girls Golf Results

The USC girls also hosted a quadrangular meet on Friday, May 5, at the Oak View Golf Course near Freeborn.

The Rebel girls came in third with a team score of 246. In first place was Blooming Prairie with a 218 team tally, Maple River was second with a 225 and Kenyon-Wanamingo had an incomplete team score.

USC’s Emma Heggen shot a 46 to lead the team and was the meet medalist – her first time being the medalist this season.

Paige Roberts carded a 60 for 10th place out of 14 golfers, Eva Hernandez shot a 66 for 11th place and Karly Koehler had a 71 for 13th place.

Janesville Quadrangular

The United South Central boys golf team took second place at a quadrangular meet on Thursday, May 4, at Prairie Ridge Golf Course.

The Rebels shot a team total of 171 to claim second place. In first place was Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton with a 163. Triton came in third at 179 and Maple River was fourth with a team total of 228.

USC’s Brennan Olson was co-medalist with Steven Dimmel of JWP with scores of 38.

Kadyn Neubauer shot a 41 and was tied for fourth, Blake Bullerman and Jorge Martinez both shot 46 for a tie for ninth place to complete USC’s team score.

Carter Hart had a score of 50 for 17th place and Mason Schrader had a 54 for 19th place. Brennan Anderson shot a 41 playing on the JV team.

The USC boys have a team record of 19-5.

USC Girls Results

The USC girls golf team came in second at the meet held at Prairie Ridge Golf Course on Thursday, May 4.

The Rebels shot a 251 for second. Taking first was Maple River with a 217. Both Triton and JWP had incomplete team scores.

Emma Heggen came in with a 52 for third place out of nine golfers.

Paige Roberts had a score of 60 good for sixth place. Eva Hernandez carded a 66 which put her in a tie for seventh place. Karly Koehler shot a 73 for ninth place and the final score for the Rebels’ team tally.

Rebecca Walters of Maple River was the meet medalist with a score of 44.
