USC boys win ninth consecutive game
Taybor Conley hurls a gem in 3-0 shutout victory over the Knights

The United South Central baseball team defeated Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial 3-0 on Tuesday, May 9, behind a strong pitching performance by Taybor Conley and Aiden Crabtree.
USC got the scoring going in the second inning with a two strike, two out single by Crabtree scoring Seth Kayser from second. Ethan Koehler advanced Crabtree to third with Hunter Bruckoff knocking him in with another two out single to right field to up the score to 2-0.
Taybor Conley earned his third win of the season for USC. The lefthander allowed six hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out three and walking one. Crabtree came in relief in the seventh inning to earn his second save in two days, recording three straight outs to preserve the win for USC.
Zale Bushlack went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead USC in hits.
USC 8, Medford 5
Even though the United South Central baseball team gave up five runs in the top of the seventh inning, they held on to defeat the Medford Tigers 8-5 on Monday, May 8.
It was their eighth victory in a row.
USC scored four runs in the third inning and doubled their lead to eight with four more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. USC Rebel batters contributing to the decisive fifth inning included Hunter Bruckoff, Zayden Schott and Nick Bushlack, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.
Zale Bushlack was the winning pitcher for USC. He lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out three. Aiden Crabtree threw the seventh inning for the Rebels recording the last three outs for the save.
Taybor Conley led the Rebels at the plate with two hits in four at bats.
The Rebels were looking to continue their winning ways with games against Lake Crystal-Wellcome Memorial on Tuesday, May 9 and Blooming Prairie on Thursday, May 11, in Wells. The Rebels were scheduled to travel to New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Friday, May 12, to face the Panthers.
USC 6, Mankato Loyola 2
The United South Central baseball team stole the lead late and defeated Mankato Loyola 6-2 on Friday, May 5, for their seventh win in a row.
The game was locked at two with USC coming to bat in the bottom of the fifth inning when the Rebels scored two in the fifth and sixth innings, respectively.
Taybor Conley was the winning pitcher for the Rebels. He surrendered two runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out five.
The Rebels scored six runs on only four hits but were helped out with two crucial Loyola errors late in the game. Taybor Conley also had the hot bat for the Rebels as he went 2 for 3 and scored twice. Nick Bushlack and Kolt Bullerman claimed the other two hits for the Rebels.
