Addison Armstrong, above, took first place in the pole vault competition at the Big South Conference Small Schools Track Meet held on Monday, May 15.

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers received All-Conference honors in nine events at the Big South Conference Small Schools Track Meet held at Wilson Field in Blue Earth on Monday, May 15. The event had been scheduled for Saturday, May 13, but inclement weather forced the meet to be rescheduled.

Girls Results

Luverne placed first as a team with 156.5 points. Jackson County Central was second with 134, Redwood Valley was third with 99, Pipestone finished fourth with 81, Windom was fifth with 58, BEA took sixth with 53.5 and St. James was seventh with 29.

All-Conference honors were achieved in four events by BEA girls.

Addison Armstrong placed first in the pole vault at a height of 10-6 to earn her first All-Conference honor of the day.

Armstrong also achieved All-Conference status later in the meet in the 400-meter dash when she finished second with a time of 62.25, which was also a personal-best time for her.

Eloise Blair secured All-Conference honors in the 100-meter high hurdles. Her time of 17.07 was her best of the season and put her in third place in the event.

The final BEA girl to gain All-Conference honors was Aubrey Woodwick in the 3200-meter run. Woodwick finished third in the race with a time of 13:45.19.

The Bucs also placed in the top-four in three relay events.

Blair, Tailor Douglas, Autumn Gordon and Kyannah Brandt ran the 4×100-meter relay and crossed the finish line in 55.04 to take fourth place.

In the 4×200-meter relay, Blair, Douglas, Brandt and Armstrong took fourth with a time of 1:55.52.

Kate Armon, Douglas, Sidney Eitzmann and Armstrong finished fourth in the 4×400-meter relay with a time of 4:34.10.

Boys Results

The Luverne boys matched the success of their girls’ team when they took first place with 136 points. JCC was the runner-up with 103, Redwood Valley placed third with 93, Pipestone was fourth with 81, Windom took fifth with 78, St. James finished sixth with 70 and BEA was seventh with 44.

The BEA boys earned all-conference honors in five events.

The 4×200-meter relay team of Nick Nelson, Gage Barker, Jack Norman and Jacob Grandgenett achieved all-conference honors when they finished second with a season-best time of 1:35.53. The same group had finished first in the 4×100 but were disqualified because of a lane violation.

Nelson ran a personal best time of 11.89 in the 100-meter dash to come in third place and earn an all-conference medal.

Grandgenett obtained all-conference status in the 200-meter dash with a third-place finish in 24.09.

Jack Norman’s season best throw of 42-1 in the shot put allowed him to finish third and earn an all-conference medal.

Blair Lunz was the final Buccaneer to attain all-conference status. He cleared the bar in the pole vault at a height of 10-6 to finish in third place.

Although illness forced Austin Stauffer to pull out of the competition, he did manage to place fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 37-0.
