Payten Gudahl, shown above putting at Riverside Town and Country Club, shot a hole-in-one at the Big South Conference Tournament Meet on May 15. Gudahl finished in a tie for third place at the meet.

It was a shot Payten Gudahl will never forget.

Gudahl teed the ball up at the 112 yard, par-3 seventh hole at the Dacotah Ridge Golf Club and, using a pitching wedge, struck the ball and watched the ball go in the cup.

It was the first time the Blue Earth Area junior golfer had ever gotten a hole-in-one and it helped her forge a three-way tie for third place at the Big South Championship Golf Meet.

Gudahl, along with teammates Katelyn Storbeck, Rylan Storbeck and Madison Ehrich all achieved BSC All-Conference honors.

Redwood Valley won the meet with a team score of 339. BEA was the runner-up with 352. Rounding out the top-five finishers in the 10-team tournament was Fairmont in third place with 361, St. Peter in fourth place with 364 and Worthington taking fifth place with 379.

Gudahl finished with an 8-over-par 80 to finish in a three-way tie for third place. In addition to her hole-in-one, she had eight pars.

Katelyn Storbeck shot a 90 and finished in a three-way tie for ninth place. She had one birdie and four pars.

Rylan Storbeck and Madison Ehrich each shot a 91 to tie one other golfer for 12th place. Storbeck had a birdie and five pars while Ehrich finished with four pars.

McKinley Hanson and Lola Lundquist each shot 129 for BEA’s other two scores.

“It was a great day for the Buc girls,” BEA girls’ golf coach Al Cue said. “Our team score of 352 was by far our season low. Four of the girls earned All-Conference honors and Payten had a hole-in-one.”

Boys Results

Luverne edged St. Peter by four strokes to win the Big South Conference Championship Boy’s Golf Meet on May 15 at Dacotah Ridge Golf Club near Morton.

Luverne finished with 303 while St. Peter had 307.

Blue Earth Area shot a 332 to finish in a three-way tie for third place with Windom Area and Marshall in the 12-team meet.

“Luverne and St. Peter both have excellent teams so I was happy we could finish in third place,” Buc coach Travis Armstrong said. “None of our guys shot in the 70s but they all shot in the 80s.”

Leading the way for BEA was Kyren Sunken, who shot an eight-over-par 80 to tie for 10th place. He had three birdies to go along with seven pars.

Finishing in a five-way tie for 14th place was Ashton Lloyd with a round of 82 which included 10 pars.

Both Sunken and Lloyd earned All-Conference honors.

Max Loge and Eli Blagg each carded 85s to finish in a three-way tie for 29th place. Loge had one birdie and seven pars while his teammate Blagg finished with seven pars.

Hunter Viland sank nine pars to finish with an 86 and a seven-way tie for 32nd place. Jackson Blondin’s score of 87, which included a birdie and six pars, helped him finish in a two-way tie for 39th.
