USC’s Taybor Conley was going to have to wash his baseball pants after the Rebels’ game against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva. Above, Conley just reaches home plate before the Panthers’ catcher can apply the tag.

United South Central’s Taybor Conley needed just 76 pitches to take down the Hayfield Vikings with a dominant performance on the mound, surrendering just one hit over seven innings while striking out two.

USC downed Hayfield 5-1 in a game played at Hayfield on Monday, May 15.

The Rebels scored all the runs they needed in the first inning. Nick Bushlack and Taybor Conley earned back to back walks to start the game before Byron Getchell blooped a single into right field, scoring Bushlack and advancing Conley to third base. Getchell and Conley then orchestrated a perfect double steal, allowing Conley to race home for the second run of the inning.

Freshman Seth Kayser started the scoring in the top of the seventh for some insurance runs when he roped a double down the right field line. Pinch hitter Ethan Koehler reached on an error. Zayden Schott replaced Koehler and promptly stole second. Conley reached on an infield single, scoring Kayser. Conley created more chaos on the base path when he stole second and an errant throw into centerfield allowed both Schott and Conley to scamper home for a 5-1 lead.

Seth Kayser led the Rebels offensively with two hits in three at bats. USC also was quick on the base paths, stealing nine bases total.

The win improves USC’s record to 11-2 overall, and to 7-1 in Gopher Conference play.

USC 5,

Blooming Prairie 4

The United South Central baseball team won their game against Blooming Prairie on Thursday, May 11, in dramatic walk-off fashion, thanks to a bases loaded single with one out in the bottom of the seventh by Kolt Bullerman that scored the tying and winning runs. USC trailed 4-3 when Bullerman roped a line drive to left scoring Taybor Conley and Zale Bushlack to give the Rebels the 5-4 victory.

Blooming Prairie led the majority of the game but in the bottom of the sixth USC was able to tie the game up at three with a two out single by Seth Kayser.

Aiden Crabtree got the win for USC with a gutsy performance. The righty went seven innings, allowing four runs on nine hits, striking out four, and walking one.

USC racked up 10 hits in the game. Nick Bushlack, Taybor Conley, Bullerman, and Byron Getchell all collected multiple hits for the Rebels. Conley, Zale Bushlack, and Bullerman also contributed RBIs to the cause.

This marks the 10th win in a row for USC, upping their record to 10-2 overall, and to 8-1 in Gopher Conference play.
