USC boy golfers take second in conference
The United South Central boys golf team took second place in the Gopher Conference Tournament, held over two days.
USC shot a team tally of 350 on Day One, which was played on April 27, at Lakeside Golf Course in Waseca. The Rebels came back with a lower score of 331 on Day Two, played on May 18, for a team total of 681.
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton took first place with a team total of 669 (329-340).
Three Rebel golfers earned Gopher All-Conference honors.
Kadyn Neubauer shot a two-day total of 160 (83-77) and was in second place out of the 39 golfers. This was the third time he has made the All-Conference List.
Blake Bullerman came in at fifth place with a score of 168 (88-80). It was Bullerman’s second time on the All-Conference List.
Brennan Olson shot a 172 (87-85) which put him in a tie for seventh place. It is Olson’s first time on the All-Conference List.
The Rebels’ fourth player whose score counted to the team total was Carter Hart, who carded a two-day total 181 (92-89) and was tied for 16th place.
Brennan Anderson was in 23rd place with a 188 (97-95). Jorge Martinez and Mason Schrader did not have a complete two-day score.
Logan Thell of JWP was the conference tournament medalist with a score of 152. He was also selected as the Player of the Year for the Gopher Conference.
USC Girls Golf Results
The USC girls golf team took fourth place in the two-day Gopher Conference Tournament with a total score of 1,032 (550-482).
Hayfield took first place with 799, New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva second with 857 and Blooming Prairie third with 925.
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, Kenyon-Wanamingo, Triton and Maple River had incomplete team scores.
One USC player received All-Conference honors.
Emma Heggen shot a two-day total 202 (105-97) and was tied for seventh place out of the 24 golfers. This is the third time Heggen has been named to the Gopher Conference All-Conference List.
Other USC players’ scores included Paige Roberts who was in 21st place with 255 (138-117), Karly Koehler in 23rd place with 285 (150-135) and Eva Hernandez in 24th with 290 (157-133).
Medalist at the Gopher Conference Tournament was Carly Bronson of Hayfield who was also named Player of the Year for the Gopher Conference.
USC vs. Fairmont
The United South Central boys golf team traveled to Interlaken Golf Course in Fairmont on Monday, May 22.
Unfortunately, the Rebels fell to the Cardinals. Fairmont had a team tally of 337, while USC had a team total of 358.
Kadyn Neubauer led the Rebels with a score of 83, good for third place out of the 14 golfers.
Brennan Olson was in fourth place with a score of 87, Blake Bullerman shot a 93 for seventh place and Brennan Anderson carded a 95 for ninth place.
Carter Hart shot a 100 for 11th place and Mason Schrader had a 106 for 13th place.
Medalist at the meet was Brock Lutterman of Fairmont with a 78.
The USC boys have a season record of 36-8-1.
USC Girls Results
The USC girls also competed at the golf meet in Fairmont on Monday, May 22.
Fairmont won the meet with a team score of 418, while USC came in with a team tally of 494.
Emma Heggen led the Rebels with an 18-hole total score of 101, good for third place out of eight golfers.
Paige Roberts shot a 123 for fifth place, Eva Hernandez a 132 for sixth place and Karly Koehler a 138 for eighth place.
Medalist at the meet was Anika Haugen of Fairmont with a score of 86.
