Armstrong takes fourth at State
Earns spot on podium after clearing bar at a height of 10-06
Blue Earth Area junior Addison Armstrong returned to her hometown after the Minnesota State Class A Track Meet with a smile on her face and a medal around her neck.
The junior pole vaulter, who had competed at the State Track Meet twice before this year, cleared the bar at a height of 10 feet, six inches to finish in a three-way tie for fourth place in the pole vault competition.
Gracie Morris, a freshman from Perham, won the event by clearing 12 feet on her initial attempt. Senior Cecily Fager of Legacy Christian Academy finished second after missing her first attempt at 12 feet before clearing the bar on her second attempt.
Armstrong tied with Maple River freshman Lauren Mutschler and Perham senior Danial Van Watermulen to earn her fourth-place medal.
The Bucs’ other State Meet competitors, the boys 4×100-meter relay team comprised of Nick Nelson, Gage Barker, Jack Norman and Jacob Grandgenett, placed 16th in the preliminaries with a time of 45.08 and did not qualify for the finals in that event.
