The Blue Earth Pirates closed out their regular season with a pair of walk-off one-run losses.

Blue Earth traveled to Windom on Friday, July 14 to take on the Windom Pirates.

Blue Earth outhit Windom by an 11-9 margin but Windom rallied to win the game 6-5 in the bottom of the seventh and final inning.

The next day, July 15, saw Blue Earth traveling to Morristown to take on the Morries.

Just like the previous day, the Pirates could not hold the lead in the ninth inning and the Morries produced a 9-8 walk-off victory in their last at bat.

No individual statistics were available for either game.

The Pirates finished the regular season with a record of 7-6 which was good for third place in the National Division of the 13/60 League.

Waseca finished in first place with a record of 11-2, Eagle Lake was second with eight wins and five losses, Minnesota Lake was fourth with a 6-7 record and Lake Crystal was fifth with one win against 13 defeats.

Playoff action began on July 22. The Pirates were scheduled to play North Mankato of the American Division of the 13/60 League at 2 p.m. in Minnesota Lake.

North Mankato finished their regular season with a record of 9-4 which put them in second place behind the 11-2 Waterville Indians in the American Division.

The winner of that game played the winner of a game between the Waseca Braves and the Cleveland Spiders on Sunday, July 23. The loser of the Blue Earth/North Mankato game will play the loser of the Waseca/Cleveland game on July 23.

The Pirates would have to travel to Waseca if they ended up playing the Braves. If Blue Earth and Cleveland ended up playing each other, the game would be played in Blue Earth.

Four teams from the 13/60 League will qualify to move on to Region competition against four teams from the River Valley League. Those games will take place the first two weekends in August. Three teams will qualify from the Region Tournament to play in the State Tournament.
