Bucs lose to 10th-ranked St. Peter
The Blue Earth Area volleyball squad traveled to St. Peter on Tuesday, Aug. 29, to take on the Class AAA 10th-ranked Saints.
St. Peter demonstrated just how good they are with a 25-6, 25-17, 25-9 sweep of Blue Earth Area.
Leading the way on defense for the Bucs was Taylor Klabunde with 12 digs. Kate Armon had six digs and Madelyn Ferguson finished with five.
Berkley Hagedorn was 6-for-7 at the service line for two points. Armon was 4-for-5 serving and also finished with two points.
Hailey Becker led the team with seven set assists. Kylee Eckmann had five kills and Kyla Roiger finished with two.
Blue Earth opens their home season on Sept. 5, when they host New Ulm.
JCC 3, BEA 0
The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers took on the Jackson County Cental Huskies in volleyball as part of the Big South Conference Showcase held in Fairmont on Saturday, Aug, 26.
The BSC Showcase matches teams from the East Division of the conference with teams from the West Division.
JCC, a perennial powerhouse, defeated BEA in three straight games, 25-17, 25-18 and 25-16.
The inaugural contest of the season saw Kylee Eckmann leading the Bucs at the net with seven kills, Hailey Becker tallied five kills while Taylor Klabunde added three and Kyla Roiger had two.
Becker led the team in set assists with 10.
On defense it was Klabunde who recorded a team-leading 12 digs. Kate Armon contributed six digs while Becker and Madelyn Ferguson each had four.
Klabunde was the leading server for the Maroon and Gold with 10 points on 15-for-15 serving, including three aces.
Berkley Hagedorn was 11-for-12 at the service line and was credited with six points. Roiger was successful on four of six serves with two aces for three points.
