Rebels get big win over the Rockets
Defense holds Randolph off of the board in 14-0 shutout victory
The United South Central Rebels scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter on their way to a 14-0 shutout over the Randolph Rockets on Friday night, Sept. 8.
Blake Bullerman scored one of the touchdowns, and the two-point conversion, while Dylan Bohnsack scored the other TD, with a failed extra point try.
But, 14 points was all the Rebels needed for the home opener victory.
USC amassed 280 yards of offense during the game, while holding Randolph to just 58 yards.
The Rebels gained 178 yards on the ground, with Byron Getchell leading the way by gaining 96 yards on 20 attempts.
Bonsack had 39 yards on 14 tries, Jonathan Martinez 28 yards on five totes and Gavin Bird 14 on six carries.
Martinez was four of six passing for 102 yards gained through the air. Bonsack caught one pass for 65 yards and a touchdown, while Bullerman caught three passes for 37 yards and a touchdown.
Randolph gained 57 yards through the air on three of 12 passing. They gained a net of just one yard on the ground – although they gained 30 yards, they also lost 29 yards.
On defense, the Rebels forced four Rocket punts, intercepted the quarterback once and sacked him three times.
Getchell led the defense with six tackles and Bullerman had five. Martinez grabbed the interception. Jake Cassens, Hayden Chandler and Bullerman had the sacks.
Next up for the Rebels was a game scheduled for Friday, Sept. 15, at Norwood-Young America. Results of that game will be in the next edition of the Faribault County Register.
This coming week, on Friday, Sept. 22, USC will be hosting Medford at Wells Concrete Stadium.
