River Valley falls to BEA in tennis

Blue Earth Area swiped a 5-2 win from River Valley Co-op at a tennis match on Tuesday, Sept. 12.
First to face the Wildcats was BEA’s Addison Armstrong, who was defeated at No. 1 singles by Taylor Berkner, 6-4, 6-4. However, Olivia Dutton won her No. 2 singles match against River Valley’s Brissa Hernandez, 6-1, 6-3.
Grace Hanson pulled another win for the Bucs at No. 3 singles. She lost her first set against Candela Pliego-Hernandez, 6-4, but bounced back with 6-4 and 6-3 wins in the second and third sets.
Kiera Lafferty tallied a win for the Wildcats at No. 4 singles with her 6-1, 7-6 defeat of Abbey Lorenz.
Carol Schrader and Ashlyn Klinkner teamed up against River Valley’s Gabby Anderson and Erika Wells at No. 1 doubles, and they secured a 6-4, 6-2 win for BEA. Bucs Lauren Survis and McKinley Hanson scored a 6-0, 7-6 victory over Jillian Mays and Anna Rossbach at No. 2 doubles.
No. 3 doubles brought a final win for BEA. Sisters Addison and Erin Prescher defeated Wildcats Emma Contreras-Ramirez and Chloe Okerman in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.
The Bucs were back in action against Waseca on Thursday, Sept. 14. They are scheduled for an invitational meet with Mankato West on Saturday, Sept. 16, and they will face St. Peter on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
