Eagles soar over Bucs in three games

After BEA finished seventh in United South Central Invitational

The Blue Earth Area Buccaneers made it close in the first and third games but the host New Ulm Eagles came out on top when the two teams met in a Big South Conference volleyball contest on Tuesday, Sept. 26.

New Ulm’s winning scores were 25-20, 25-12 and 25-22.

Hailey Becker and Madison Ehrich each had five service points for the Bucs. Becker was 9-for-10 at the service line with one ace while Ehrich got six of her seven serves in and served two aces.

Berkley Hagedorn served two aces while going 7-for-8 at the service line. She was credited with four service points.

Autumn Gordon led BEA at the net with six kills. She was followed by Becker, Kyla Roiger and Kylee Eckmann who each recorded four kills. Tailor Douglas added three kills and Kate Armon finished with two.

Becker led the Bucs with 15 set assists. Ehrich finished with four.

Taylor Klabunde led the way on defense with 17 digs. Armon had seven digs, Becker tallied five and Hagedorn and Madelyn Ferguson finished with three.

BEA’s conference record stands at two wins and five losses while their overall record is 3-9.

The Bucs competed in the St. Clair Invitational Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 30. Look for the latest volleyball results in next week’s edition of the Faribault County Register.

USC Invitational

The Blue Earth Area volleyball team traveled to Wells on Saturday, Sept. 23, to compete in the United South Central Invitational.

The Bucs went 1-3 during the competition and finished in seventh place. Each match followed a best-two-out-of-three format.

NRHEG 2, BEA 0

The Bucs had a tough time getting going in their first match against New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva and dropped both games by identical 25-12 scores.

Hailey Becker had five set assists while Madison Ehrich finished with three.

Autumn Gordon and Kate Armon each recorded three kills. Sara Dohm had two kills and one ace block.

Taylor Klabunde led the team with five digs followed by Madelyn Ferguson with four.

Armon and Berkley Hagedorn were each credited with two service points.

USC 2, BEA 0

BEA played a little better in their second match of the day, but not well enough to defeat the host Rebels. USC defeated the Bucs in two games, 25-18, 25-19.

Madison Ehrich led the team with 13 set assists. Autumn Gordon had a team-high eight kills followed by Tailor Douglas with four and Kylee Eckmann with three. Gordon also had two ace blocks.

Kate Armon and Taylor Klabunde each tallied seven digs while Berkley Hagedorn finished with six and Ehrich had five.

Leading servers for BEA were Hagedorn and Eckmann who had four service points each.

MVL 2, BEA 0

Minnesota Valley Lutheran won a close first game 25-21 before defeating the Bucs 25-15 in the second game.

Kylee Eckmann and Kyla Roiger led the Bucs at the net with four kills each. Autumn Gordon finished with three kills and three ace blocks.

Hailey Becker was the team leader in set assists with 15.

Taylor Klabunde led the way on defense with 12 digs followed by Kate Armon with five. Berkley Hagedorn and Tailor Douglas each had four.

Roiger finished with four service points. Gordon, Klabunde and Becker each tallied three.

BEA 2, ML/GHEC/T 0

Blue Earth Area battled Martin Luther/Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman in the contest for seventh place and finished their day with a 25-21, 25-15 victory.

Autumn Gordon had a good all-around contest with 11 kills, eight digs and two ace blocks.

Tailor Douglas led the team with 13 digs while going 22-for-23 at the service line with two aces for 18 points. She also had four kills.

Kylee Eckmann had five kills, an ace block and two service points on 5-of-7 serving.

Hailey Becker had a team-high 20 set assists to go along with two service points.

Taylor Klabunde aided the victory by totaling nine set assists.
