Volleyball season ends with loss to WEM
Blue Earth Area unable to overtake No. 1-seeded team in section

The No. 8-seeded Blue Earth Area Buccaneers saw their volleyball season come to an end when they were defeated 25-11, 25-15, 25-18 by the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown Buccaneers in South Sub-Section quarterfinal action in Waterville on Monday, Oct. 23.
WEM is currently ranked ninth in Class AA and is the No. 1-seeded team in the Section 2 South Sub-Section.
Hailey Becker led BEA with eight points and two aces on 13-for-13 serving.
Autumn Gordon led the Maroon and Gold’s offensive attack at the net with eight kills. Kylee Eckmann added three kills while Becker, Kate Armon and Kyla Roiger each finished with two. Becker contributed two ace blocks and Eckmann had one.
Becker and Madison Ehrich shared the setting duties with Becker tallying 10 set assists and Ehrich finishing with seven.
Taylor Klabunde led the way on defense with 16 digs followed by Berkley Hagedorn with 13 and Armon with nine.
BEA ends their season with a record of seven wins and 16 losses.
WEM advanced to the semifinal round of the subsections where they faced No. 4-seeded New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva on Thursday, Oct. 26.
