Buc girls defeat Medford 53-41 for first win
Lundquist and Armon combine for 46 of team’s points in victory

Lola Lundquist and Kate Armon scored 46 of Blue Earth Area’s 53 points to help lead the Buccaneers to a 53-41 victory over the Medford Tigers in the second day of the Maple River Tournament on Dec. 9. It was the first victory of the year for the Bucs against three losses.
Lundquist went 8-for-12 from inside of the arc and made one three-pointer in six attempts. She was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line and finished with 24 total points.
Meanwhile, Armon tallied 22 points by making four of her 11 two-point attempts, going 4-for-14 on three-point attempts and making two of her three free-throw shots.
The Bucs led 26-21 at the end of the first half before outscoring the Tigers 27-20 in the final half for the 53-41 victory.
Medford outrebounded BEA 42-33. Armon led the Maroon and Gold with nine rebounds while Madelyn Ferguson had seven, Lundquist added five and Taylor Klabunde finished with four.
The Bucs had 12 steals led by Armon and Lundquist who pocketed four each.
BEA shot 45 percent on two-point attempts and 21 percent on three-point attempts. The Bucs made seven of their nine free throw attempts.
Medford made 24 percent of their shots from inside of the arc and 21 percent of their shots from outside of the arc. The Tigers went to the free-throw line 20 times and made 11 of their shots.
After hosting the Fairmont Cardinals on Friday, Dec. 15, the Bucs will travel to Wells on Thursday, Dec. 21 to take on the United South Central Rebels.

Belle Plaine 63, BEA 17
The Bucs were stymied on offense by the Belle Plaine Tigers who defeated the Maroon and Gold 63-17 on the opening day of the Maple River Tournament on Friday, Dec. 8.
Lola Lundquist led BEA with 14 points.
